Item number:2459846913 Any one know what the deal is with this car? It sounds too good to be true to me. I am interested in any info someone might have on this one. Thanks, Kevin
I'd say a buy it now of $9k is about right for a small block GS, even one in that nice of shape. A protecto-plate or build sheet would be nice though, because I don't know if the 72's VIN denotes GS or not. It may, but I'm not sure. Maybe it just denotes GS but not GS 350-455 etc. In any case, looks like a great buy to me, this car looks very complete. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2459846913
Nice looking car but one question. If all the air conditioner needs to work is a new belt, why not put one on?o No:
Kev - You buy it and I'll go pick it up! Vancouver island is beautiful!!! Then when I get home we'll drop one of my stage 1 motors in it.... Steve
This car is in Bill Van Steens neck of the woods. If anyone is really interested in this car PM Bill. Harvey
That's a very very nice GS. This one is keeper in my book. So what if it is not 455 or a stg1 or aGSX. IT's a clean GS.
I'm tempted to bid on this car- I wouldnt have to worry about getting it across the border as it is already in Canada. I would be tempted to store the original engine and trans and build a 455 for it. I wonder though if I'd be better off to spend an extra 5k and go for a factory 455 car. The bench seat is a bit of a minus too. I have the owners number and will call him today. Todd
It's a 350 GS but it sure seems like a great price for the shape it's in ! ( no JW I'm not going to buy this one too )   :3gears:
What kind of hassles are there in "importing" cars from Canada? This price is really tempting now! My wife would kill me!....... Kevin
72 GS has a VIN indicating number 4G37 is GS and K is 350 4bbl dual exhaust . It is easier to bring one here than the other way around . The tax will kill on US to Canada
I bought a 71 Skylark convertible from Canada (Vancouver) last summer and brought it back to WA. It wasn't too much of a hassle. I went with the owner to the local insurance office, and he got the insurance certficate signed over to me (that is like their title). He needed the lic. plate to cancel the insurance, I wanted it to drive the car home, so we comprimised and I FedEX'd it to him when I got home and he cancelled his insurance then. When I crossed the border, I filed out a couple of forms, told them I paid $1k for the car and showed them the bill of sale, etc. (which of course, matched the $1k I paid). They made me wait about 10 minutes, stamped my forms and off I went! I am not sure if the rules are different if the car costs more, or if there would have been a transfer tax payable at the border. I got to WA, took my customs form and insurance cerfticate (title) to the DMV and transferred it to mine name. Much easier than I expected!!
Hey Todd, Go for it. There are a couple of board members on the Island. I'm sure one of them could check it out for you. I know you could get it shipped back to Ontario for less than $1200 Canadian Harvey
Man, the timing always SUCKS when these cars come along. As you can see by my sig I am in the midst of a separation with my wife. Things are sooo busy right now with all the details that adding the purchase of this car is probably stupid right now. With legal bills and "negotiations" I am probably best to wait for a month or so. Things should be settled by March 1 and then I might treat myself to a toy. Todd
On the other hand... can you '72 experts help me on the front bumper? Is it correct or should it have the rubber strips on it? Also, is that the correct grille? Thanks Todd
Has anyone talked to the seller? I emailed the seller during the first auction to ask a couple of questions. like... Are the engine and the trans #'s matching? He hasn't returned an email, at all. Has anyone heard from him on this? Troy
A friend of mine here in Port Elgin, Ontario bought this car last night. I emailed the seller and he was prompt with a return phone number and we talked 3 times last night. For a used car dealer, he was extremely straightforward and helpful. Car was 2nd owner, sold new on Victoria Island and he has original Bill of Sale. It is supposedly rust-free which is the key to what we are after.
