the googles are telling me several different locations for this thing. I don’t want to screw it up.

    I advise people thusly:

    1) Put deck lid in open position.
    2) Place decal in either hand, glue side out.
    3) Run, as fast as possible, towards the open deck lid with your hand outstretched. Be on the side of the car where you want the decal placed and have the decal in the opposite hand.
    4) As you run past the open deck lid, slap the decal to the underside. Placement is not important nor is straightness. Extra points are awarded for creativity.
    5) Step back and admire your work!

Just kidding ( A little...). I've seen them all over the underside but believe they "should" be in one of the "triangles" on the backside of the skin of the deck lid. Driver's side if I'm not mistaken...

I love it, what Brad said, that's EXACTLY how it's done. I can't speak as to a 72 GSX's placement, but it's true that these things are all over the place on original cars in general. I know the assembly manual says one thing. Logic dictates it should be under the light so you can read it at night. But you see these things everywhere like on 70's. I've seen them on the wrong side, I've seen them upside down. Could have been the plant, or could have been the 'shrooms. Who knows? I doubt you would be docked unless it was on top of the spoiler.

Logic would tell you that it should be under the trunk light so you can read it at 2am on the side of the road

I do know that all the originals were wrinkled, and yes we look for that when judging.

    Just kidding.

Duane, yes...I see it now. I knew about the paper originals because some Olds fanatics make them. But...then if you copy the repro on paper and glue it on, the corners are cut wrong, or the font is different, or the words are different, or....it's always something! Let's get Adam REALLY thinking....

    Noted.

Off topic, but the trunk splatter paint that TPP sells smells terrible. My god

Well Adam, that would work but I don't see any wrinkles in it.

It must have been a Thursday car. Supposedly they were the best.

    Monday-Hangovers
    Tuesday- still some Hangovers
    Wednesday- Thinking about Hump day
Thursday- Finally getting the hang of it.
    Friday- Thinking about the weekend.

I’m blind. Found it now of course. It’s in the wheels and tires section, where I never thought to look

For what it's worth I have a factory trunk lid here with the factory sticker still in place and its in the top left hand "cavity".
The 71 GSX we have in the shop now also has it in that same location - but that was restored once already so . . . . .
