Another misrepresented Buick Real nice car, but this guy sounds like a shyster. Why not just come out and tell us it is a nice clone? Is there still a sucker born every minute, or have we educated enough poeple to have a sucker born once a week. Who would spend huge bucks without verifying everything. This is still a very nice car but probably not going to bring more than about 35K. Nothing this guy said was corrct, but the car is really sweet and probably worth it considering the cost to build the car and find the parts. Any guesses at the reserve, I say 30K and that would be a steal if it is everything it says it is :beer Another really nice clone!!!!!!!!!!
The asking price on their website - http://www.goldenclassics.com/cgi/display.cgi?make=BUICK - is $34,500.
"This car has the Stage 1 455 Brute Buick Engine..." I believe the only indicia of this car having being a stage one engine are the decal on the air cleaner and the chrome valve covers.
Nothing wrong with a clone and this is a nice one. The ad on Golden Classics says nice AZ car. If it is , it went from Ga. to Fl to N.C. to WV to AZ. The seller called me today as I had inquired as to a BIN. I like the car but the glued VIN worried me and still does. It is about a 22k car with the issues and not nearly a 34k car. The car had green doors and when I installed the package tray there was green paint behind the rear seat . If it was yellow from the factory , they used green primer. Yeah right!!
Zinc chromate primer which was standard factory for aircraft like Beechcraft is green. I have some. But I do not recall seeing it used by auto manufacturers.
Here's the seller's response to my question of the car's authenticity: The car is documented by the Sloan Museum. It is a GS 455, and the GSX equipment was added later in the cars life. We would appreciate if you would have the previous owner contact us. Are you trying to tell us that the previous owner committed Fraud, or that he was a victim of it? If he was a victim, why did he not report it then? Please clarify. My Response: The previous owner didn't commit fraud as he didn't try to pass it off as something it's not, you're the one attempting that.
Im confused. So was the car orginally a Skylark or a GS? I was also told by the seller it was a Sloan documented 455 GS that the stripes and GSX stuff were added to. Bidding has gone past my range but im curious about the comments. When you say rebodied does this mean someone did have a 455 GS that they body was damaged or rusted beyond repair and a Skylark body was used to rebuild it retaining the GS 455 vin tag? Thanks for the insight. Mark
