Hello I am seriously concidering this swap for my regal. I can get this rear for less than $100 and besides welding on my spring mounts and etc. are there any other things that I should concider. I know that this rear is 2.125 inchs longer than my stock 7.5 but with the right back spacing on my wheels this should not even be a problem. Please help me out here. I don't know how long this rear will be available if I don't jump on it soon.

You mention spring mounts but will you not also need to weld on the upper/lower control arm mounts? If it was me I would pass on this rear end and look for a GN/T type 10 bolt/8.5 rear end instead. I see plenty of them for sale on the turbobuick site for sale at various prices. I think you will find the Nova rear end will turn into a bucket of worms.

I was trying to keep cost down and figured an 8.5 is an 8.5. I have a guy through a friend that maybe willing to sell me a GN 8.5 but he said he would want 1200.00 because that is what he has in it. How hard is it to get the control arms and mounts setup correctly. If I could find a complete GN rear significantly south of $1000 I would go that route. But this is what I see being the cheapest way to an 8.5 right now.

It won't work the upper mounts on the rear are cast into the pumpkin. Just find the right rear. Jkaz

Take our word for it, forget the Nova rearend and go for the GN rear end. Look on the turbobuick web site as they have GN 8.5 rear ends for less than $1000 everyday. Just be sure and get the drive shaft as well. The 8.5 takes a drive shaft that is approx one inch shorter than your 7.5 uses. Good luck and PM me if you need more info on the 8.5 sway as I've done it more than once. No, I won't sell you the complete GN rear end I bought for $250.00

Hey Thanks for the advice. I joined turbobuick and hooked up with Shawn Oconnor out of Pittsburgh. I think that he is on this site as well. But Shawn sold me a gn rear out of a low mileage 87 car. He wasn't as cheap as your $250 but I don't have to eat soup all week either. Now I just need to put the rear end in my car, drop the engine and trans, paint car, and etc. But I can check 1 thing off of my list.
