Red 72 stage 1 with 18,900.00 BIN on ebay is back and no mention of why. Maybe buyers remorse I noticed it was bought late at night maybe after a lot of liquer ???? Anyway I live close and am going to check it out hopefully wednesday . I want to see if the engine and body #'s match and if it is even a A Stage 1 engine . With all the wrong stuff on it I am suspecting it is a real body with wrong parts . I'll get back and share info .
Interesting. It's very nice and presentable but there are some weird things that even I noticed. It has black painted rocker trim instead of the red that the GS' got. Are the valve covers painted silver, it doesn't look like chrome. They also look like they were painted with the same paint as was sprayed on the master cylinder. Didn't the Stage 1's have both chrome valve covers and a chrome air cleaner lid? Shouldn't a '72 air cleaner have the triangular piece on the driver's side? ...and it looks like someone left a woman's "scrunchie" in between the bucket seat back and the seat bottom on the driver's side. o No:
The VIN # makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE! Obviously NOT a 72 GS 455 Stage 1 VIN #!!:spank: ou: And the ULTRA-rare black air cleaner lid? VEERRY COOL!:moonu: There's more to mention, but why bother? Buyer BEWARE! I could be wrong, but looks like a CLONE to me!:boring:
The VIN is correct for a 72 Stage 1 car , the black air cleaner is correct for 72 Stage 1 ( chrome is for 69 ) the valve covers should be chrome , the air cleaner is 70 or 71 as the 72 is supposed to have the air pump , this requires a triangle style on the left side of the air cleaner . The leather wrap steering wheel is wrong but kinda nice I think . The rockers are wrong for a GS should have red stripes . The Master cylinder is not like any 72 I have seen and the booster and mastercylinder lid should be gold anodized . Look at those tiny exhaust pipes ! To me it looks as though it was thrown together and although it has the correct VIN it remains to be seen if it has the WS engine or BB trans . The place selling this is a HIGH END vehicle dealer . Lots of Mercedes and Porshes , Bentlys ECT . They have had a few Buicks but they may have been fooled on this one . If it is a right car with legit numbers I will let everyone know . I am gong to look at it wednesday . :Let the buyer beware
looks like the seat is broken,(drivers) and the towel is holding it up, and the tires don't even match, may sound funny but for a quality Co. they could at least match the tires?uzzled:
Same dealer that had the obviously cloned 65 GS vert a couple weeks ago. that car didnt meet it's reserve..BG
I think this company should stick to what they know and leave the musclecars to the dealerships that understand them more. Another thing I noticed is the mis-information on the "455/360hp" thing. The 72 had much lower horse power. The 360 is a 1970 Stage 1 figure. This car is all over the place with the description.
Hey maybe its a rare 70/72 Stage 1 with 71 options you the ones that were built with LEFT OVER PARTS from someones garage. I sold a Stage 1 body 10 years ago I wonder????? I will be getting a pic of the tag to see if the int and body color are right also . The car looks good to most I have shown it so I am sure they expect a non GS savvy buyer to snapmit up after seeing the pricesd on ebay.
Anyone recongnize this car?http://www.hemmings.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/classifieds.cardetail/id/2082745
