lookin for some NOS quarters and fenders for a 70-72 skylark. i got an offer to buy a used pair of quarters...one of them has just a little bit of surface rust...im not a body work guy so i was wondering how hard it would be to get rid of that little bit of rust...

For what you're going to spend on NOS stuff, it will probably be worth it to buy used if they only need a little work. If you're new to rust repair and bodywork, you can learn alot of guys on this board (like me), that have been there and done that.
NOS quarters are hard to find, and will cost you upwards of $2500-$3000 for the pair. Then And Now Auto now offers full quarters at half the cost of NOS, and they are really the best you can get.

A good body guy can get rid if even bad rust with no problems. Nice thing about used is you know they will fit. Never know what NOS has been through or how they were stored after all these years.

I had the chance to look em over closely in Columbus. Very good quality. The body lines and contours were dead on. Sheetmetal was thicker than any of the other aftermarket one's available. If you want full quarters, that's the way I would go.

Im also thinking about going with the lower quarter patch panels from sherman parts. Does anyone know anything about the quality of these?

First off no one is making full convertable quarters for a Buick GS or skylark. You can use the Sherman skins and be happy. The TPP convertable outer wheel houses are a must have when replacing the quarters. I have held the Then and Now full hardtop quarters in my hands and they are tor shelf parts.
