    not mine, wish it was.

I got talked out of buying this car by my buddies when i found it in an enclosed trailer way in the back of the swap area last Sunday at the Goodguys car show at westworld. We were flying home the next day and I have no room for inside storage in Phoenix, so apparently this car wasn't meant for me.
So heres what i know about the car from looking at it and talking to the owner:

    The Car:
    72 skylark 350-2 auto on column car ( i checked vin...no V)
engine and tranny on garage floor, apparently engine has been rebuilt and never put in.
    70 rear bumper
71 gs hood in excellent condition with rally scoops
    no ram air cleaner
Because the car was in an enclosed trailer i could not crawl under the car to look under on the sides.
originally suppose to be a Michigan car, no air, was suppose to be stored inside for many years which i believe due to no evidence of rust in the trunk in the usual areas of water laying from going through the top. I don't own convertables or looked at many but from reading about them on the board i was impressed with this one.

Over all i believe the car is fairly solid and looks really straight, the top looks decent couple of small rips but as the ad says it had to have been replaced at some point and i could not see inside the car very well. there are a ton of new spare parts in the trunk and elsewhere that go with the car. There is rust on the frame and under the car, i do not know if the car is rotton because i could not get under the car? By Arizona standards its prob rotton?.... but i cannot believe this car was driven lots in the winter in Michigan, so rust may be minor if there is such a thing?

    the story on the car...
I had a couple of good talks with the owner and chatted briefly with his wife...this sale is not about the money..
The owner said it was his sons car, girlfriend blew the motor up? His son apparently passed away numerous years ago and he had a really tough time (who wouldnt) and could not deal with the car issue at all for many years till now.

The owners wife works in the accounting dept with GM and they are being transfered back to Michigan in Dec i believe, the husband is NOT looking forward to the move but economics dictates...They probably do not want to trailer the car back to Michigan..

I know this car can be purchased for much less than the asking price, they are General Motors people and if someone will buy it to fix it up i believe they would be happy to let the car go to a good home for alot less money than someone that wants to part it out or flip it?

If i had room in my garage in phoenix it would be in there now, (i parted out a 72 so needed a reason to buy one).

Someone in Phoenix should go crawl under this car and really look closely, the car is a sensitive matter due to the sons death showing some compasion will go along way.

Sorry for the long post, my buddies think the owners story about the car was BS but i believe him and his wife and have only relayed here what they told me and i saw with my own eyes.

If somebody goes and looks please post a report back and if someone buys it i would love to see it when i go back to Phoenix in January as the one that got away...
