  1. I have personally take back my "ribbing" of kevin and give him props for letting us know when a deal may not be as good as percieved. What I said was out of line and Yes, Its really hard just tell from photos, and a small ad. I to have been burned on a car that wasnt in as good cond as said by the owner, partially my fault it being my first classic, 68 dodge polara 500. what looked to be staight metal turned to be fibre glass and filler. Ya I got it for 1000 but still....Could have used someone like Kevin for that one. So Cheers Kev, No offence taken I hope :beer

    auction over

Anyone know who got it? Hope he's not dissapointed upon closer inspection. I've seen pics of a limemist 71 with GSX stripes, 455 4 speed convert ( 1 of 18 , I believe) that needed a rebody. That , to me is rare and would be worth more than selling price he paid. I have seen before and during photos , but no updates lately. If anyone knows this car, I'm sure the owner could give a fair estimate as to how much it costs to do something so extensive. No matter how much you put into it , that doesn't mean you can get it back out of it. It is one of 700+ hardtop Stage 1s and nothing will change that fact. We've all seen production numbers for Stage 1s and even small block cars. 71 350 4 speed convert , 1 of 51 . 69 Stage 1 converts . So to a Chevy or Ford guy , the fact that they made less than 10,000 of something makes it rare, but how about some Board members with cars where less than 100 were produced? If 1 of 700 is rare, what do we call 1 of 12 4 speed 455 1972 converts? :Do No:

    Lost cause

Hey Kevin, I've done the same thing, went only 360 miles down to Charlotte nc to look at a "great" 72 gs350-- took the cash, trailer and all, :blast: only to end up laughing at the whole experience. He sent me 45 pics that made it look good and like I said, I just had to laugh :) at him. On the way home I was relieved I didn't spend all that money on putty. :)

    grannys70skylrk MORE IDEAS THAN MONEY

I'm no expert but maybe the problem is Buick guys want something more for this kind of money and non-Buick people would rather pay the asking price for something "cooler" than a Buick? I bet a Chevy/GTO/442 being offered for the same price would sell in a minute, maybe not on Chevy/GTO/442 sites, but in most other places. At a local cruise Monday night there was an excellent '70 GSX clone and you could overhear comments like "I didn't know Buick made cars like that", "What kind of Chevy is that?" while people oohed and aahed over average SS's and GTO's. Go figure?

Great info. Kevin!!! I love getting the real scoop!

    Kevin,
Great job to inform us! That car has potential! But may not be worth all of the work needed. Even though the guy claims it is an "Easy fix for the average body guy". We need more info like this! Thanks again!

I'm curious? All of those people who thought the rusted-out bondo machine in OH was the "One that got away" by looking at pictures , were any of his pics this clear ? NO . Did he point out the underside of HIS doors? NO . WHY??????Because if he did , noone would bid. Thanks for showing us pics of YOUR Beautiful car. It did look like a twin to this color and equiptment wise , but the sheetmetal on yours isn't garbage and as far as I can tell , your proud of this car and are trying to show potential buyers just how nice it really is. This is the OPPOSITE of what the other guy was doing . Best of luck in your venture, Kevin.
