    I love these pics!!!
I was filling up my Stage at the local Texaco last summer, and a Hispanic guy pulling a lawn service trailer pulled up. I thought he was getting gas, but he came over and asked what year my car is. I told him 1970, and he said his uncle has a GSX in his backyard. He then went on to say"Yeah, it's yellow with black stipes, and has a hood tach and wing." He didn't know if it was a Stage 1 or what transmission it has. Apparently his uncle thinks he's going to eventually fix it up. I gave him my number and told him I'd be very happy to come over and help him and his uncle get it running and out of the yard. He never called, but I'd love to have seen it.

    more stuff

This car was sitting in a field with a bunch of other junque Chevelles before I rescued this car. This is a 1970 SS 396 Convertible with matching drivetrain. Top half of engine (head, intake, manifolds, carb, air cleaner where missing). Ruff but real with a build sheet and matching numbers!

    More Squares of the forgotten!

Here is another one I rescued! I'll stop now. This is fun looking through all the old pictures of stuff other folks let rot!

By the way, this is a different 67 Corvette body than the one I posted earlier on the trailer.

    What it iz?

Hey Mike, is that a Gran Sport?

No offense just had to get one back for the team.:Brow:

How many times have you had someone come up and talk to you for a while about your GS only to say "Yeh, thats a nice Chevelle!":Dou:

Sounds like you really scored on that deal though, good job, another GM rescued:TU:

Mike, let's see the "after" pics!!!!!

Did you fix them up after you hauled them out? I'd love to see the pics! We just don't see enough pics of before and after on this board. I wonder it it's worth bringing up for a vote, to put in a new category.

HERE IS A LITTLE ITEM THAT MAY INTEREST YOU. I HAVE A 1973 CENTURY GS 4 SPEED CAR(FACTORY) WITH A BROWN INTERIOR AND SPLIT BENCH. IT ORIGINALLY CAME FROM ILLINOIS AND IS ALSO #65 PAINT(BURNT CORAL)THIS COLOR WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE ON A GS. I CONTACTED RICH LASSITER A FEW YEARS AGO AND HE TOL ME THAT IS PROBABLY THE RAREST ON HE KNEW OF.

    Still don't Know

Hi BIGNASTY, (always wanted to call someone that! )

Yes, I had a girlfriend who had one of those.Pretty rare though.

I still don't know the production number breakdown unfortunately.
Again this is a 73 model Stage 1 SunCoupe Automatic with "all" options. Black exterior, white guts.

This is for someone else and I am trying to help him.

Maybe there aren't numbers on these cars. I tried to look it up in my Steve Dove GS book but it fell apart when it contacted oxygen:laugh:

    Had it a FEW years.

    Thanks guys,

    Fritz

    Chris Lott 4 speed finally

Bignasty, I would try posting on the parts wanted board for you doors. Also, please post your name at the end of your posts or in the "signature" section of your user controll panel (easier) so that we can address a person instead of calling you names (you brought that upon yourself:Brow:  )

is that a ragtop ss ? it even has the rare passenger side mirror?
spend the bucks to restore this car & u will have no problem reselling it , especially since u have a build sheet & matching#s.
    good luck!
i owned one of these chevelles , brand new, ordered in .

    convertible

    Yes,

That is a real 70SS 396 Convertible. The car is originally dark green however someone painted in Carolina Blue a longtime ago.

Yes, Carolina Blue was a real color that was available in 70 as a promotional color for the Carolinas. I actually owned an original paint SS convertible in the light blue (Carolina Blue) several years ago. It is now in Canada.

Believe me, this stuff is still out there. Two weeks ago I saw a 67 Shelby pulled from a garage in Western NC. Last licensed in 78. I am going to look at a 67 Shelby this week that was last driven in 81.

Keep looking, this stuff is EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

    rare cars

there are people in ontario, canada, whose business is travelling about our province and looking for cars that may have been parked in old barns or sheds . i have an uncle by marriage who found a fullsized 68 oldsmobile , one owner , 2 dr ht, with a 455 engine, two years ago . car had about 35000 miles & in great shape . had been in a dry barn for over 25 years by the original owner's wife since he passed away. his wife just left the car where he parked it .
usually anything that has been garaged or barned in ontario
    has rotted away .
at this point, i know where there is a 70-71 ford torino gt , that has not moved for at least 3 years & sits outside on a driveway,
year round. i was told that this car was either given/sold by the father to the son. since i am not a ford person, i never inquired .
probably one of those deals where the son will one day restore the car when he has time . damn shame as the car, from the road, looks decent .

@MCACN in '18 there was a factory '64 Chevy 409 4-sp wagon. That 73 had to be super rare as even an automatic let alone a 4-sp.!

    Hi,

73 4 speeds are fairly rare, I know Pontiac had the option on the GTO and Grand Am with a 400, not a 455, a friend has a Grand Am awaiting a restoration or a person to undertake the project, seen 1 Gran Sport in person.

    Regards,
    Jim

ive seen a 73 chevelle with the factory 4 speed. as for buick you could only get a 4 speed in a century and only 92 stage one cars had the option so yes its rare. the x body was the apollo and there was a gsx in 74 for them very rare as well.

it's been a long time I've read this thread, even got shock when Jeff Kitchen talked about my car. Beauty of getting old, you forget things and it's like reading something new again. But, my main point is I have a local friend here that has a 73 four speed BB 442, so I know now, that all 3 brands of the GM Division made 73's with big blocks and small block four speeds. And yes I still have mine. I need to show off my interior, just freshened her up this past summer.
