Got a '73 455 and am wanting to remove all of the emmissions junk off of the motor. I was looking in Jegs at non-motor parts, and stopped at the Edelbrock intake manifolds. They sell one that is for a non-egr 455. Would that intake work on my motor since I want to get rid of the egr stuff anyway, or do I need to check out say TA performance and find a different intake. What else will I need to do to get rid of the emissions stuff. I've already taken off the smog pump and stuff. Right now the engine is sitting on an engine stand, so it'd the prefect time to do this before I drop it in.

Also: 850cfm is enough carb for a mostly stock 455 eh?

    Thanks!

I have a '74 block that had '73 everything else

I just unbolted all the emissons garbage and put in an aftermarket distributor, never had a problem, honest daily driver since 1991, even drove it in the snow until '97

I just made plates out of 1/4 inch steel to cover the egr and AIR holes in the intake. On a stock motor, except for the weight, an OE intake is just as good as an aftermarket one.
