Hello all. I have a 73 Century GS350 w/a 455. It is an auto car w/ A/C. Any guesses what this baby weights? Thank you.
Well, I've never put my car on a scale but I would guess somewhere in the range of 3800 to 4000. I'll bet Pat Harmon (bignastytoyota on the board) might have an idea.
Eric and Jmccart, I know that I have a site that gives out the weights of Century cars somewhere and as soon as I locate it I'll post it.As for the weight,I'll let you in on a secret.I took my 73 down to the local truckstop and had mine weighed.It had 1/2 tank of gas,and nothing in the trunk.Its a 350 4spd,ac.pdb,ps benchseatwith 15x7 wheels.It came in ar 4260 lbs.I ran low 16s with the motor that was really tired.I was totally shocked that this car weighed that much but I'm betting a 455 will be around 100 or 200 lbs more with the same options.Have you ever taken one of the bumpers off?You will really see where alot of the weight comes from then.:jd: They are a handful! Pat
'73 Stage 1 weight 1970 Stage 1-3950 1973 Stage 1-4170 Both cars air, auto, bucket seats and missing the a/c compressor at the time of being weighed. Also, the '73 had a few more options {p/w,p/dl,p/bs}
good point, but have you ever seen a mid 70s bumper bent? it takes a hell of a hit to damage one of these babies!:TU: i havent weighed mine yet, but i have removed as much weight as i can, including the whole A/C assembly, and am finding more ways to reduce tonage all the time. my car only has the 350, but you can really tell the difference in the ride alone if you get red of that 75 lb boat anchor on the side of you engine. and after i hand fabed the heater box on the firewall, i have a lot more room, too
