    Gotta love descriptions:
"Currently non running, but was running when parked in the barn."

What year was it parked in the barn? 1985?!

I'm not far to go look at it, but $500 is about the most I'd give for the whole car, just for the drivetrain, and scrap the rest. Nowhere near worth $2,000, in my opinion, not running, anyway.

This is a tough one because I want to save and buy every car and end up bringing them in at high transport cost. This one is close to me in Iowa and he has a continuous running ebay auction with BUY IT NOW or Best Offer. I think I sent an offer in the $1000 range and he returned a counter of $1500, I think.

That was about 3-4 weeks ago.

Yes it's rough. I love the photo of the trunk where it looks like high acid pigeon droppings have accumulated for what? 20 years? C'mon, at least spray it off and clean it up a little.

Nonetheless, even though de-tuned by 1973, it's a big valve 455 with buckets/console and probably a 3.42 posi. Lots of value in that package but it would take a garage clearing old school restoration costing $30,000 or more to bring a $15,000 car back to life.

Ultimately I am out of room and this is the worst part of the hobby for me. I would love to be one of you lazer focused guys that only collects Skylark GS's from 1969-1970 and this car simply doesn't appeal to you but I love such a wide swath of cars that this one is killing me to leave it alone.

Funny thing is, I keep my radar out for cars close by like this for years with no results, grab some other equally interesting cars from farther distances and BOOM! this shows up in my veritable back yard. :(

That's what I am talking about- your footer shows 4 1970 Skylarks/ GS's. To you (and this is perfectly OK) this just a Stage 1 BB motor surrounded by crappy sheetmetal. I currently own 6 cars, 3 of them are Buicks (1936, 1970 Wildcat buckets/console, and a 73 Centurion Big Valve 455 car). I just can't own 4 of the same year/make/model.

The 73 Riviera Stage 1 cars with buckets and console were AWESOME cars and this one should not be parted. One reason is the huge aftermarket available to Skylark GS fans. There is literally NO NEED to pull this Stage 1 455 and posi and scrap the rest. I think it's fine you believe it is worth only $500 for the motor, but step back and consider the bigger picture. What if, this was a 1970 GS 455, complete but tired, with buckets/console, posi and a "barn find"?

The answer I think is about 20 of us would be climbing all over to be first in line to plop down $2250 for it. But in reality, the Skylark based muscle cars where not clean sheet designed and engineered like every generation of Riviera, so the Riviera was set up, when new or restored, to deliver an even higher level of driving and ownership pleasure then a parts binned muscle car.

I've owned muscle cars and Rivieras and everything in between. It's worth keeping this rare car intact.

I'll be quite honest, I was selfishly hoping someone would want to buy the car for the drivetrain so I could buy the console/shifter/bracket/cable from them :)

Keep in mind that a lot of people consider this to be a Skylark and (A-body)GS board.
There even is a board section called Our "other" cars, for cars like Rivieras, Electras and Skyhawks (just to name a few)

And in the past we had board logos with an A-body Buick in it.

When I read the letters GS, first thing that comes up in my mind is Riviera GS

"The Other Bench" etc. is intended for other auto brands like Olds. It is not intended for B,C, E and G body Buicks.

There is a dedicated non A body, Buick Section under "Boatoads of Fun" for B, C and E Bodies.

There is a dedicated section for V8 powered G bodies, meaning Regals, GNs etc.

The V8 Buick.com Board was created primarily for any V8 powered Buick issue because 10 years there were already Boards in existence dedicated to V6 Buicks.

Yep I know. It's a GS / A Body board. Don't want to step on toes, just wanting to point out that parts are very plentiful without hacking this poor car up.

I see several bucket seat console Rivieras for sale that are in baaadd shape and I spotted 3-4 parted out bucket seat/console set ups in 2011 for Rivieras.

DVAP has several bucket seat/console Rivieras.

I'm out of room, or else I would go f.or it

Erik, Jim said "The Other Bench" not Our "Other" cars.

The "Other" Bench A hangout spot for general chat and bench racing for all our non-Buick friends.
