I bought a 70,000 mile centurion 455 T-400 convert. today as a donor car for my 59 Lesabre. I know the change over can be made but has anyone done it. sad thing is the 74 is a pretty decent old car. Is the 74 a rear sump? will the rearend be the right width? Both car s are from the west Texas desert :beer and pretty much rust free.Any advice? Thanks in advance guys. I enjoy the atmosphere of the board. Lots of guys willing to help. TP
No I don't have a vin number. I'm not really sure it's a 74 or a centurion.I was going off of memory from last summer when I saw the car and we drove it around. I do know it's big, yellow and a convert with a 455 that will light the tires up. I'll talk to my buddy that I got it from tonight. I haven't actually taken possesion of the car. We made the deal over the phone today. TP
Cool...let us know!:beer If it turns out to be a Centurion, you might consider registering it with me www.buickcenturion.com
I called my buddy. He said he couldn't remember the year but was positive it being a centurion and thought it might be a 71. I know it's yellow. Am I messing up using it as a donor car? Probably a dumb question to you. Are they fairly desirable cars? I wanted it for the 455 and T-400 and rearend. TP
Well, they are desirable to certain people. I'm a bit biased, though:grin: If it's rusted to hell, then don't worry about it. It's your car!:beer Just get me the info before you trash it!:Brow:
oh no it has a nice body. It's from the west Texas desert. I trying to get him to send me a picture. He had eye surgery today and is eating the pills. May not happen tonight. TP
It might behoove you to sell the body here on v8buick. There are always folks looking for rust free parts on here!
ok guys once I get the cars home I will post what I want to do with the centurian. It's a shame to dis-mantle a perfectly good car just for motor and trans. I might work a trade with someone on parts i need for the 59 if they want to.I'll be back in a day or two. TP
'71 Centurion Convertible. I've got a rusty one I'll swap you even up for. Has a running 455 and working TH400. I'd even throw in a short shaft TH400 core. If you do strip it, keep me in mind for parts. John Eberly
Don't Strip it!!!! ou: These are rare convertibles, very low production, super nice cars. Check out closed auctions on eBay you'll see rust free examples selling for 5-6k easily. A will optioned one in good condition can go over 8k There are lots of 4 doors and other less desirable cars to get your engine from. But, of course it's your decision. If you decide to take the engine and trans I desperately need 2 door rear quarters. Hell, I'd be interested in the car even without a drive-train. Let us know what you decide. Thanks, John
hell yeah i do!!!!!!! ill take the fenders , hood and anything else that is good that will fit :Brow: plus i can pick them up your only 100 miles away on 105 :Brow: :Brow: I say strip it :blast: :spank:
ok fellas, I'm not going to strip the centurion. I just bought a 65 401 T-400 out of a rivi. I will just sell the car as is. I have not even gotten the cars home yet. They are in Midland Tx. My buddy is going to deliver to Dallas and I will pick them up there. I will put the centurion up for sale here first and let everyone have a chance at it. Then off to ebay in a few days if knowone wants it. I saw the car last summer and drove it. It is yellow with a white top. It runs very well. Seems like it probably needs a top, I can't remeber. Thanks TP
