    Hi everyone
Just got my 76 Hurst Hatch Regal back from the shop with an Indy pace car wing, Midnight Blue OE repaint and a brand new white sport interior. The original 350 4V runs beautifully and will keep me weekending in style while I build a 76 455 from a donor Electra. Has anyone done this swap and/or can you point me in the right direction? I have searched threads for a LONG time with no results. ANY help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Robert:pray:

Just a thought ...1976 were very low compression! These are the least desireable heads

Thanks- I know this but the 76 block had all of the factory improvements for oiling etc and I wanted the date code for the block to match the car. i'll probably just use the heads as cores for gessler or i have a set of '72's that i can also use as cores if gessler doesn't want the 76 heads.
Thanks for your input :TU: .

The 455 swap is pretty much standard swap stuff. I'll have to see if I have a picture of the engine compartment. I like the Pace Car spoiler and white interior also but the interior is murder to keep clean especially if you race it alot. Your air conditioning will fit right on the 455 engine while mine was a v-6 car with the smaller compressor and I still have to retrofit it. Weight is a big problem with these cars!

76 heads are now more valuable than ever, as SCRAP IRON! Gessler will probably tell you to throw them in the nearest scrap heap. The 72's would pick up a good bit of compression on your engine.

Where's some pictures of your car?

    Hi Mike;
I'll get some pics up soon- my car still has the rollers from the body shop on it so that really takes away. Did you have to do any fabbing or relocating of anything? I'm looking to run the TA shorty headers and a Vortech blower running 6~8 psi.
    Any info would be appreciated!!

ok, this is a crazy thought but should it really be that much different then all of our gbody swaps? i know when i switched my friends 77 regal from a 3.8 to the 350 it was just as easy as doing it in a gbody. i have to imagine the only concern is the clearance between the engine and the heater box, and moving the frame pads.just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info - I've been looking at this everyway I can and the heater box was my main concern. This thing cant be too different from my 73 that had a stock 455? I wish I had the 73 to compare measurements with. I'm not a chicken, made my living all my life wrenching one way or another but the thought of moving the AC/heat ( which I want to keep...) Just call me
    Foghorn Leghorn.
    Bcaaww!!

NO NO NO!!! I would NOT Bast@@@@@@e a pace car edition!! re-read my post - I ADDED the pace car spoiler I bought off of Ebay a few years back. This is a nice 76 regal with all original metal and the sport interior / ttops with a factory 350/350 4bbl that I am going to hang on to. Nothing irreversible is being done to the car.

I'm gonna go take a shot or 3 and post if if you all promise not to laugh at the rollers its on. And yes, thats my T-type in the background with 42k on the clock! And no grief for them being outside! we just moved and the garage isnt done yet!! Look in readers rides and lemme figure this attachment stuff out.

well, i meant to imply that you were creating a Pace Car clone from a Regal not that you were bastardizing an available to the public Pace Car model.

    it's all in good fun.

    Its all good.
I'm not trying to make a clone ( different nose, no quarter windows,SS roof belt ) all I want is a nice looking 76 regal that will show the local boys and their stangs and t/a's some long-distance taillights!!! It's a car I've lusted after since 1980 ( high school ) and now I have the time and a few pennies to do it. Can't wait for the AR 500 rims....

Best of Luck on your 76 I have a 77 regal that was my 1st car... (in 92) Christine had and still has a 455 wildcat from a 76 LeSabre in her(450K thru 3 cars & never been tore down.) My BF n I are finally getting a chance to restore her to what I have always seen her as....a True Beauty but for now shes our work in progress... I need to get around to posting some pics of the progress..:kodak:
