the beauty ( or horror ? ) of having two newbies nuclear snipes collide. the repro's are good quality ( i guess ) and nos is around. much like the repro coolant tank that sold for $ 200.00 the other day, when people dont know whats available, they pay too much, lord knows i did in my early ebay days.

Welp, repos from Year One about $50 (after shipping), or NOS ones for $80.......with some exceptions of course, NOS parts typically have a better fit and finish than repos, so it was worth the extra 30 bucks to me.......but thanks for the insight and concern!:TU:

    Oops...

    Cole,

Please don't think I was knocking you, that's not the case. I was just making an observation....trust me....

At least you didn't pay $95.00 for ONE of these!!! :Dou: :Dou:

I gotta stop bidding on stuff after I've been out with the boys all night!! :beer :beer

Not a bad deal in this day and age. Heck, I might have bid that much... for spares of course. Repro's are not as nice as GM parts. They should be, but, someone always seems to pull the plug half way thru development.

NOS parts are like antiques.........it's not so much what they are worth, it's how much a person is willing to pay. I've seen garbage picked junk sell for a small fortune at antique stores, but some nice things modestly priced just seem to sit there forever. It all depends upon how badly you want it.:bglasses:

Well now, I for one am not a "newby to e-bay" I just wanted the f****** things. When you spend as much as I do to restore a car you occasionally go overboard in the pursiut of perfection. I am getting very tired though of the e-bay game!

Didn't consider it a knock, Brett.......I'm probably the most laid back person you'd ever meet, so it would take a whooooole lot more than that to make me even think twice!

Anyway, a week or so ago when I saw it, I was thinking about $50 max. Then I looked on line today at Year One and saw the repro at about $45, so I thought "I'll go to $70 for an NOS".....then of course I got a little caught up in it at the end and did go about $10 over what I intended. But what the heck.....that's just a couple cases of Mountain Dew!:beer

Besides, when you're having a frame off done on an original 50,000 GS convertible, you kinda want the best you can find. Also, I think JW would rather work with NOS parts than repros whenever possible, so I've been working on it.

Actually don't like the whole e-bay thing a lot, but I don't see this stuff come up on our board......:Do No:

    i apologize, my bad

cole and mark, i am feeling kind of bad about now. i didnt like it when people thought my prices were too high, so i should have known better than to second guess someone else's buying or selling price. the last thing i want to do is offend people i consider my friends. i didnt realize the repro's were that much. i guess i'm the one living in the past now. my bad:Dou: as to the newbie comment, i was going by the fb totals which was my mistake too, a person can be on ebay a long time and may or may not have alot of fb. fb is only an indicator of how many people posted fb for someone, it does not reflect how many deals they've actually done. if you watch me bid, you can say i paid too much time and again. i should've kept my mouth shut, i am not in a position to talk about others bids after some of the prices i've paid.

i am always saying that an item is worth what someone is willing to pay, but i didnt go by my own motto. i went and made myself a self-appointed expert. that was rather dumb of me to do that. llike all humans, sometimes i am just plain wrong. anybody got a good recipe for crow ?
nice cars do deserve nice parts.
in short, i apologize, i was wrong and i am sorry.

Hey don't sweat it, Henry! Like I said to Brett.......not too much gets under my skin (except for maybe my son's "girlfriend " decisions!). I've occassionally posted some things that I re-thought and then went back in to change or delete my post. Things can be pretty easily mis-interpreted on the internet without knowing specifics, relationships, tone of voice, facial expressions, etc.

    We're cool, Buddy!:TU: :beer

Life is too short to be insulted over something as trivial as this. Right? Why not have a little fun with things like this when they happen!!!
It must be the evil curse of E-bay gods that made me keep hitting the bid button. Even my wife rolled her eyes at me when she saw what I was doing.:Dou:
