What year, what ratio? I am thinking 64/7 are the same and 68/70 are the same, but may not remember correctly.

good question I’m not sure. It’s a 70 8.2 but it’s not opened up to take a pic of the insides yet. Maybe post pics of what you have?

I'm not too sure, but I think that the earlier carriers are different then the later ones.Monzas or Brian Trick will know better.Bruno

Sean, have your friend drive to MI. & buy this. GM 390 gearset, been blasted, new axle seals, it's in my way. 20170419_164515.jpg 20170419_164207.jpg

68-70 have their own carrier. Find out what you have for sure.

I have a 70 posi carrier out of a GS 350, it had 3.23 gear. Not sure what is a fair price or how to make sure it is good.

You can use a newer 8.5” carrier, without too much modification, for the 2:93 gear. The journal and ring gear bolt pattern is the same.
Use the SET36 bearing on the LH side and the LM102949/LM102911 bearing on the passenger side. The 8.5” carrier is slightly wider, and it will fit into the housing, but I like to narrow it to match the original by cutting the bearing hub shoulder back, and milling the excess off the ends of the bearing hubs.
It takes more modification when you fit one of these for the 3:23-higher gears, but it can be done as well.
