:TU: 'Not sure where to post this, but thought I'd put it here where everyone can see it.

Blanck Chevrolet Company here in Brownsburg IN was on GM's hit list and closed forever July 7, 2009, after 81 years' continuous operation by the same family. My wife's new 2008 Impala came from Blanck's last spring and has the Blanck Chevrolet - Brownsburg - Since 1928 dealer logo on the deck lid, where it will stay! The current owner and operator, Dave Blanck, is the Grandson of founder Ed Blanck Sr. I consider Dave a friend.

Brownsburg is immediately NW of Indianapolis proper, about 8 miles as the crow flies out I-74 from The Indianapolis Motor Speedway. (Sometimes, however, the crows fly along old U. S. 136 for a change of scenery...:pp )

The auction of all the remaining parts, literature, showroom displays, etc. is Saturday, September 26, 2009. It is being conducted by Earl Cornwall, renown Indianapolis Auctioneer.

Dave allowed me to wander the parts room, but I am not enough of a GM Parts expert to identify anything unusual. I did see maybe six NOS T-3 6-volt headlamps in the boxes, which I would think would be of interest to early Corvette restorers, etc.

Dave also has a good selection of Corvette dealer materials and brochures back to the mid-1970s that will be in the auction. He has an unopened, unused 1953-1979 Corvette Parts Book that is kind of cool, in that it still has the wrapper around it. It will be in the auction.

Finally, Blanck was also a Bricklin dealer in the mid-1970s. He has one illuminated Bricklin showroom sign with some fading due to sun exposure, with a small piece (five square inches?) broken out of the face, but the piece is with the sign if someone wants to carefully glue it back in. Also an NOS, back-lit Bricklin Parts sign that was never used and is in excellent shape, and a half-box of uncirculated Bricklin brochures.

Dave contacted the Bricklin specialist in New York(?), but the guy hasn't gotten back to him. If that guy doesn't get off the dime, all the Bricklin material, what there is of it, will be in the auction as well.

I'm sure Earl's Auction Company / Indianapolis has something on their website and if so, I'll post a link momentarily. Earl's is proud of the fact that they are old-fashioned auctioneers with NO Buyer's Premium, an issue that is kind of a thorn in the side of many auction-goers nowadays. BP
