    Hey guys,
Ive been reading a few other threads about v-8 swaps into regal 6cyl cars. I have an 82 sedan with a tired 231 that may decide to retire at any time. The rest of the car is in immaculate shape other than the headliner and a small ding on the front passenger door so i was considering dropping in either a 430 or 455 that i have kicking around.

But from what i understand a buick 350 swap is much easier in terms of things lining up and not needing much custom fabrication. So i wanted to come out and ask a few questions straight up that i didnt see directly answered in other threads.

    1. Do the accessories from the 6 bolt straight to the 350? I have working a/c and would like to keep it as the car is an everyday driver.

    2. Will a 350, with proper motor mounts and brackets, bolt to the same holes in the frame as the 3.8?

    3. I believe the tranny behind the 3.8 is a turbo 200 with lockup converter. Is the bellhousing pattern the same on the 8 as the 6, and will a 350 flywheel bolt to the 6 torque converter.

    4. What would it take to swap to a 200R4 overdrive tranny and a grand national rear? Different tranny crossmember, driveshaft, rear springs, rear control arms?

If it turns out to be too difficult or costly i will probably try to find a 4.1 v6, freshen it up, throw on edelbrocks performer kit for the 6, gasket match the heads, intake and exhaust, and call it good.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

Hey Marcus........welcome aboard!! Im' doing a 455 swap as we speak. I'll answer these the best I can.....

    1. Yes & no......AC lines will be too short on the 350, but all other bracketry bolts up to the 350.

    2. Yes same frame mounts on the 350 and motor mounts will work too. Although I've heard the V6 motor mounts are softer to allow for more vibration of the motor. Stick to the 350 motor mounts.

    3. Bellhousing will work, not sure about the flywheel. It should be the same pattern.

    4. As for the rearend the driveshaft will need cut and I believe the crossmember will need to be repositioned.

Good luck, and I'm sure other members will chime in on the stuff I'm uncertain about. :TU:
