What are these cars worth in today's market. I looked at an 87 with performance mods for 19.5 and a stock 86 for 17k. Both were very nice cars with good paint and T tops. Perhaps one on this board for sale. ?

I do not like the t top cars. They have problems with bending the sheet metal due to excess torque! I paid 17K for ours. It is a 40,000 mile car and a Sloan top 75 award winner so it is a very nice car. Mostly stock.

I just drove by a white T Type for sale. Looked nice from the road. These are basically the same as a GN. Wish I had the money it would be really nice to have the white car to go with the GN.

    John,

I have been following the market on these for years. My brother and I, each purchased them new. He still has his.

I sold an 87 GN, very original with 18,000 original miles last year. I received low 20s.

Depending on the performance mods and how many times it has been raced, the price could be lower. I have seen them in the mid teens for nice GNs with performance mods.

The 86 GN usually brings a little less $ than the 87.

I think the prices of the 2 you mentioned are a little high.

I just bought an 86 GN Hardtop with some performance mods. Prices range from 10K for a decent one. Rust is an issue. Mid to high teens seems to be the norm. I found mine on Craigs List. Another good place to look is Turbobuick.com Peace, Mike D.

Yep prices are all over the place, down right now. What I've learned is that there is only one way to take these apart and most that I've seen are missing stuff, also the motors are easy to hurt. Big dollar mods do not mean a super fast machine, it's all in the tuning and how the parts work together. Mine spent a year on jack stands until it was right. Prices range from POS with rust around 6-7K on up. Mine is priced at 12K, will not budge from that. Zero rust and runs strong, put paint on it and bingo 15-17K :TU: Actually the wife is says keep it:beers2: for once I might listen:Do No:

My dad has a very nice 86 with miles in the teens that he would sell for the right price. I'll ask him what he wants for it. It is an unmolested, stock car.

I have a showroom stock 87 GN with 1,3XX miles. T-tops and the usual options. I have thought about parting with it this spring. If you want a brand new one, this would be the car. I have been waffling back and forth on what to do with it, but it's tucked away in the garage for the winter now. I am thinking it would be much more fun to have one that could be driven and modified.

The prices are all over as mentioned. You should be able to buy a very clean driver for mid-high teens. Low mileage untouched cars are going in the low 30's or higher.

Keep me in mind if you are looking for an investment grade vehicle next spring, I just might part with it. I'm actually toying with going to the dark side (Challenger SRT8). My wife has a Charger SRT8 for a DD, and it's just a great vehicle, and has really changed my mind about Dodge in general. I think I would really enjoy something I could drive and beat like a rental car and not worry about.

John, which car are you looking for? You looking for original or modified? You mention 2 cars that are extreme different on what people typically are looking for.

Here is what I see as a "guide" to where pricing has been recently;(assuming original and in pretty nice shape)

1,000mi or less -30k on up
    1000 - 5000 mi - $27,000
    6000 - 9000 mi - $25,000
    10,000 - 15,000 mi - $23,000
    16,000 - 19,000 mi - $21,000
    20,000 - 29,000 mi - $19,000
    30,000 - 40,000 mi - $17,000

Options are great, but condition is king!

Wish you were closer, I would have you give mine a look over for interest. Ive lost my interest in cars and cant seem to quit buying houses right now! I could buy more property if the GN was gone.

There is a 1987 one for sale on the Bowling Green, Ky craigslist (Dec 4th) that says is a clean car with 77,000 miles, upgraded turbo, new wheels/tires, and a clean interior for $4800.00. The guy says he needs the money to make his house payment. From what I can see in the picture the car looks clean and the car pictured is in a nice looking neighbohood. You might want to check it out. The phone number is (931) 260-4447 ask for JJ
