"1990 Buick Reatta. "One of One." This is the only Reatta that was supercharged at the factory in Flint MI. (with papers)" https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/cto/d/bartlett-1990-buick-reatta/6907219000.html
Nothing to see here. Fake. Supercharging was not available on the 3.8 until a couple of years later, series II. The BCA has an annual National meet and this car may have received an award under modified but never under the stock category. I suppose this car has been discussed and discredited on the AACA Reatta forum but I have better things to do than go back and look. I have seen it on that forum from time to time. It may very well be a nice modified, it looks nice - but to lie and all in his ad is not cool.
It looks nice until you look at all of the cheesey stick-ons under the hood. The only thing missing is the “Badass Boys Drive Badass Toys” license plate.
There was one originally built prior to production but was not sold to public, it was actually done before the Reatta was introduced and was also rear wheel drive. The supercharger was being considered for the Reatta had it continued after the 91 model year. So there is no question they were exploring the supercharger in the Reatta but I am not buying the story on this one.
Here is the BS I received when I asked what type documentation he had. "I have all of the service records, All repair and parts records. Also, a signed and certified document for the original owner stating what was done to the vehicle at the factory." I then asked - so nothing from the factory documenting the engine, and received this response. "The supercharger was not installed until 1991 along with Park Ave front brakes, in Flint, by the first owner that happened to work for Gm. He was some sort of big shot at GM." So more BS
No argument about the level of BS going on. Slight inaccuracy in your info, Series 1 3800 SC was available in the '93 Park Ave Ultra and continued as a Series 1 through '95.
He posted it on the AACA Reatta forum and got called on the carpet. He posted the transformation on the forum back when he did it and someone reminded him that he gave a blow by blow account of what he did as he was doing it so we know all the factory comments to be BS, post has been deleted there
I know there was one because I rode in it. But, cannot remember if supercharged or turbo charged. I do remember that the hood could not close all the way and I am sure it was crushed.
My 72 Skylark Sport Coupe came from the factory with a fuel injected big block. I just need to plaster fuel injected" stickers on every panel and it'll be legit!! And nothing takes an ultra rare 1 of 1 car to the next level like an abundance of cheesy AutoZone stickers an emblems. Kinda like nothing brings out the flavor of a premium steak like ketchup and mustard.... I sincerely hope the owner is a pathological liar. Because if not, he got sold a bill of goods by some shady individual.
The Riviera wood grain panels in the interior totally clash with the overall sport idea behind this one
