Bruce, Did you get a chance to run methanol today? Are you open to posting head flow #'s? Thanks, ken
the intakes were 377 peak and 314 peak on the exhaust. Had to give up on methanol. couldn't get it rich enough. have some learning to do. Dyno operator doesn't think we'd see much more over the q16. ---------- Post added at 03:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:15 PM ---------- The basics of the build are covered in the Tomahawk section.
Perfect:TU: Awesome Bruce well done. Can I ask what you blacked out on your dyno sheet? All top secret Cheers
Perfect Awesome Bruce well done. Can I ask what you blacked out on your dyno sheet? All top secret Cheers Royden, I'm pretty sure its the cam specs if I were to take a guess!:TU:
this is going in Dave's Apollo. GSE and GSP are pretty much dead although his Apollo with this package would be a GSP legal car if it still existed.
In respect of Scott Brown's wishes (the cam grinders wishes). I thought his price to figure out and grind a core to be quite reasonable. I've enjoyed doing this in the past but thought i'd ask someone with more experience to help this time. He has a number of Pontiacs with similar head flow and cubic inches running similar grinds and he pretty much hit the numbers it made. ---------- Post added at 07:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:12 PM ---------- Our target is 8.90 at 150. We will know in a few weeks at BG.
Scotty's engine dyno'ed a bit over 900HP, BUT! The power-speed calculator says it took about 1050HP to run as quick as he did.
He told me that a pro-stock chassis like his, along with the Lenco transmission, will actually make more horsepower in the car than most other types of drag cars.
Hey Bruce have you made any passes with it in the car yet? What ignition set up are you running. Thanks Herb
In our typical style we ran out of time to test here and will be going to BG with an untested car. We were going last night but got rained out. It uses a MSD distributor with crank trigger.
Thanks. That 8.68 was rolling off the throttle at the beginning of the speed trap. Needless to say we were very pleased as it exceeded our expectations and how often does that happen. We had a lot of issues with traction but finally got a handle on it. After exhausting chassis tweaks I backed 12 degrees of timing out at launch and ramping it back in over 1.5 seconds. Best e.t. 8.683, best 60ft. 1.222, best mph 152.00. I think it was hanging its tongue out at the finish at 7,700 rpms. Had to keep upping the rev limiter to get it through the lights. Engine ran flawlessly even afer sucking the pan dry on the first good pass. Had to keep adding oil untill it would maintain some oil pressure on hard braking. Only adjustments to engine were air bleeds to try and lean it out. Engine was still on the rich side.
You guys have worked hard for this, I am excited for you Dave and crew. True blue buick guys all the way:beer TA's new block has really open the doors for the buick community, props to Mike and his crew @ TA performance also! Chris
