Im no expert but Id think that it would be fine as its on the underside of the trunk lid and not subject to sunlight and weather.

You know that is laquer and it looks brighter than the base coat cc but it will work instead of white on the underside.

I'm ready to put base coat 9021 on the top side and I had to bondo a part of it and now I have a lighter color primer in that section. Should I go ahead and do it or make the whole surface close to the same color primer? Will the 9021 Base coat from Nason cover that section or will I see a difference?

I painted the trunk lid base coat/clear coat 9021 fighting dirt all the way in the base and clear. It looks great but to a perfectionous like me I hate it. I kept recoating base after sanding dirt I got to the point where keep buying base or just clearcoat it. If you look hard at it you can see a couple of spots where I tried to fix the base coat. So here's a tip, make the base coat look great so the clear will look great. If you fix a basecoat dirt or other problem you will have to re base coat the whole panel to make it solid over the whole area. I cleared it and if you look at it the right way you can see where I tryed to repair the dirt. I used a Devilbiss Finishline 3 for the base and had to put a 1.5 tip in it to apply enough paint to cover well.
For the clear I used a Harbor Freight Professoinal series gun kit but the cup was almost to small so I'm thinking about puting a bigger cup on it. It says to use 30 to 40 lbs pressure but I had it at 30 so 35 might have been better. The clear needs to be wet. I actually went back and forth until it looked wet. What I'm thinking here is that if you can't afford an IWATA or SATA gun you have to make the cheap ones work. If you can paint with no dirt you got it made with car painting.
If you want all the training you can handle go to collisiion blast.com and Donnie will set you up for free classes to paint.
So far after listening to his videos I am learning. Here is before and after. Hit from behind from a 95 Dodge Ram Aug 21 2012 002.jpg 91 Buick repair 001.jpg

And guess what? I wouldn't stop there so here is my new deal, I have rust coming through on the right rear and I started sanding it and cut out some rust but I'm putting Hirsch paint on the other rust so what would you do? Not a show car. body work 001.jpg
