'92 LeSabre - good daily driver?

I've been putting off getting a sensible-ish daily driver as I do like having a V8 up front and the drive wheels out back even if its a M*par I'm using as a daily driver at the moment. (sorry!)

Anyway we don't have many US cars over here but I did spot a '92 LeSabre in good looking condition, at a sensible price with the 3.8 V6 in it. According to the stats this thing will make 18 MPG city (most of my driving) which is a significant improvement on the 10 MPG my old Chrysler is doing in the same situation! (both numbers based on US gallon sizes)

So is the '92 LeSabre a nice luxury barge bargain which will transport me through the daily grind of awful city traffic in comfort and reliability or are there any known faults with them which could cause me to regret the day I ever bought the thing.

Anything I should watch out for especially on an inspection and test drive or is it just the usual used car checks?

All my buddies are telling me to get a BMW 320 and I can see the logic in the arguement but I just can't bring myself to buy one.

They are smooth and reliable. My ex-wife's parents gave theirs (92 Lesabre) (110,00 miles) to my ex-wife who put on 40,000 more, then she gave it to my daughter in law. Has 180,000 (miles) on it now and still runs smooth with very little maintenance.
2 alternators, struts, brake caliper....sure 1 power window won't work, and the power locks are history and the leather seats are cracked but it still gets em around.

Very smooth and reliable cars. My Father in law has a similar vintage Park Avenue which is an upgraded trim version of the 4 door fullsize Buick.

The only disadvantage to these cars is the "old man" expectations that seem to apply on this side of the pond. Just like the late great Rodney Dangerfield - "they don't get no respect".

Now, if you can find a Park Avenue Ultra with the supercharged 3800 you'll not miss your smogger Chrysler V8!
