'96 Imp SS steering Gear into '66 Wildcat?

I think the '94-'96 Impala SS/Caprice 9C1 Police Package steering box has a 2.5 turn lock to lock ratio. Does anyone know if this box will bolt into my '66 'Cat?

Ken, any box from just about any full size GM from '69-'76 will be a bolt-in, as NO mods. A variable ratio box would be even better from a Caddy from '67-'76. These are all bolt-in swaps & will get you the desired 2 1/4-2 3/4 turns lock-lock. I have some boxs at the shop.

 

Thanks George and Tom. It seems from reading that article that most anything will bolt-up but there's a lot of differences inside the various boxes.

Tom, do you have any of those Caddy boxes at the shop?

 

I'm getting ready to swap a box out of an '89 IROC Z into my '65. It's 2.5 turns from lock to lock.

 

Let me know how it goes. If you read 3/4 down the page here it list Weatherhead fittings if the box you are installing is metric.
