I also love the B body Mopars. Bought this 1969 Super Bee 383 Magnum brand new from Winter Park Dodge.
Very cool car, looks saveable and definitely worth saving. But not for that price, the guy is high as a kite. I guess it doesn't hurt to try.
Ok since we're all coming out of the closet here I just bought this 68 Coronet 440 318 car. No motor or trans, nothing special really but I love the 68-70 Coronets and I've always wanted a 68 in particular. I have a 69 front end that I'm putting on it. I think the 68 tail lights matched with the 69 front grill assembly just looks flat out mean and aggressive .
Nice looking bee Ray. You've been into the Buicks for a very long time. How did you go from Dodge to Buick and when?
Well, Brian, I'll try to be brief................I never could afford a fast car while in high school but upon leaving the Air Force in 1966 my first real job as an electronic technician allowed me to consider one. My first was a 1967 Fairlane 500 XL with a 390 which was a dog. So, in '68 when the Road Runners came out I was ready for one. But, I wanted something different so, it was the '69 Super Bee. I couldn't afford the 440 so special ordered the 383 Magnum with optional 3.54 rear and no A/C. (I later added under dash A/C to it) It was the first Super Bee delivered to Winter Park Dodge. I sold it in 1972 after returning from a mountain trip where it got 8 MPG and gas prices made it unaffordable. That was my last muscle car until 1984. My Son was to turn 16 in 1985 and he liked GTOs and asked if I'd try to find him one. While driving through Winter Park sometime later I thought I saw a 68 or 69 GTO parked at a 7/11 with a For Sale sign in the window. Turns out it was a 1972 GS350. It was so nice that I bought it on the spot. I really hadn't had enough time with the Super Bee to develop any brand loyalty. The GS was really clean with only 40,000 miles and had lots of options like Turbo 350, A/C, PS, Disc Brakes, Buckets and console and trailer package with a 3.42 Posi rear axle, kind of rare for this model. That started the Buick passion for me as after giving the car to my Son I had to have one for myself. So, I found my first Buick a 1970 GS455 Convertible which I restored in the garage. Both cars were raced and shown in Bowling Green in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The other Buicks I've owned are listed below my signature. LOL, tried to be brief but didn't work out that way. Below is the GS350 which started the passion.
Some more fun ramblings.............After returning from the 1986 GS Nats I built the motor up with Kenne Bell cam, an 800 CFM Thermoquad and KB headers. Had it running in the low, low 14s at 100 MPH and it was the fastest car in Mike's high school. That is until the '86 and '87 Grand Nationals started showing up. He won some, lost some against those guys especially after they started learning how to make the GNs go faster.
