I'm wheelin and dealin right now for a cast iron cased GM A-833 and was wondering if it would take the a ~3000 launch on drag radials. I've been eyeing the Quick time pros and the ET streets. Something around a 28x12.5.It'll be in an 88 Mazda B2200 truck that wieghs probably 2500 pounds. It'll be mostly street driven with the ocasional drag run. The reason for drag radials is so i don't need a blowproof bellhousing, otherwise i'd go for slicks.

I was running Aluminum case one's in my Regal. I wiped out some Syncros in the first one. I was launching 'round 3000, but my little 350 was an underwhelming mid 14 second car.

Pretty sure both the Cast Iron and Aluminum A-833 for GM were Overdrives. I would highly recommend NOT power shifting OD.

Not sure how this compares but we used and M22 Muncie and made power shifts at 9500 rpm and launches around that same number . Had to replace brass rings ocassionaly but that was no big deal .
