in a 3000lb car with 3.42s I want a high rpm engine in the mid to high 10s.
Would like to try out the TA Fuel injection system its looks kinky. No Nitrous.
So how much would I expect to spend? Oh and money aint a thing... :Brow:

Then it really wouldn't matter... right? There are too many ways to do it to give you an accurate answer.

    ...

So I take it you dont know any? I asked a question to those who built an engine application like that and how they did it and about how much it costed.

Well, you will need about 600 hp to get into the tens...

Do you want to use a Buick motor? Which one? FI or NA? Suspension? Tires? Tranny? Altitude?

    455 Price info

    Waterboxguy,
I assume you are thinking 455 Buick. I am PM'ing you some good info from and earlier thread. The place to go is the 455 and 455 race boards. If you are thinking Turbo V6 then turbobuick.com After reading what you can you'll need a machine shop that knows Buicks.

    Good Luck with it.

at least 12K if you're starting from scratch and want fuel injection

Periodically, one of the Buick builders has an engine, complete, that is capable of tens, for sale on the board. Seems like they run in the 6 to 10K range

You can build a HYD cam, pump gas, fuel injected motor to make about 525-550 hp to run tens in a 3000 lb car. Not a big deal.

I'll go out on a limb here.

Figure $5000 - $6,000 for FI, including controller, fuel system mods, etc. (including intake)

Figure about $2300 for a set of good-flowing heads.

For the short block, myabe another $2,000 to $5,000, depending on how you want to go (girdle, Crower rods, custom pistons, etc.).

Then you need the rest of the car- tranny, exhaust system (incl. headers), rearend, suspension mods, etc.

The attitude isn't really necessary. We're friendly guys here.

Hey, don't sweat it Waterboxguy. I thought Adam's answer was a little off the cuff too. Without smilies it is very easy to misinterpret the written word. I'm sure you and Adam meant no harm.

Contact PAE and TriShield Performance. Also Earick and AM&P. They can tell you just what you need to know.

    A 600HP 455 is a slam dunk.With Bulldog heads or TA's Stage2's, a nice cam and ported intake you'll run 10's all day.

And you won't have to wind it up to 9 grand to do it. We big block Buicks get it done at around 6000 RPM.
