"A" body quarter panel question

Given the fact that no one wants to step up and reproduce complete quarter panels for our cars, one has to wonder what we have as options. I see that other "A" body cars now have complete repro quarters availble, while we have skins. I gather that the Tabco's are high quality and do go up onto the sail panel slightly. Has anyone investigated the possibility of using the upper sail and roof joint areas for, say a 70-72 Chevelle, to replace the often rotted Buick originals. I know that areas below the sail panel are totally different, but are the upper areas the same? With the cars sharing basic roof panels, trunk openings, etc., I wonder if one could combine the upper sail panels of a reproduced Chevelle panel with the good Tabco lowers and the original trunk mating areas of the Buick panel to produce a nice repair on the Buick "A" body. It would appear that the uppers are indeed very similar, but close enough? Thanks, Rudy E.

I would ask George N. I think he has invertigated most options like this.

I know the Chevelle is close because the rear side glass is similar. Cutlass and Lemans are not. I have not had the need to do a patch/repair from the Tabco qtr and higher.

If I were you, I would seriously investigate the amount of rust/trouble you have with your rear clip. If your car was a vinyl top car, you may be in for more trouble than you expect. I had a 72 Cutlass with v.top, 2 dr, the only thing keep the water out was the vinyl material.

Just want you to make sure you know the extent of metal corrosion or damage. Reason for asking, you don't want to get into replace the quarters, wheel housings, rear filler panel, trunk floor, etc. Would be cheaper and quicker in the long run to get another car or another rear clip.
