In the last few weeks, I have been laughed at a bit with my Buick. First was a few weeks ago, when this kid that works on the farm next door to me started telling me about his fathers 70 Chevelle SS clone. He says it has a special 69 Camaro SS block that makes 350HP and 360 lbs of torque. He was telling me how the car, with a 2.73 open rear, will smoke that tires right off the car. Then he told me that my stock GS400 wouldn't even be able to run with the Chevelle. He thought it would be funny though to see me try. The second was just a few days ago, when another kid (working on the same farm) was telling me about his new 87 Camaro Iroc Z28. He said is had a 305 with ported heads, Multi Port FI and 4" exhaust. Again, he thought it would be funny to see my Buick try to run with his car. These kids are friends. The second is a little crazy though. He has wrecked 3 or 4 cars already, and only had a drivers license @3 years. The last 1 was an F150 that he totalled. He smashed the whole drivers side of the cab into the frame, and bent the frame. He went through the windshield, fractured his neck in 3 places and still walks to joke about it. What do you guys think. I know I have power enough, but am carrying a little extra weight than the other cars. Hmmmmm,
    Dan :3gears:

    chryco63 14's or bust!

Okay... 4" exhaust on a 305?? That's like... 1 3/4" overkill, even with ported heads. Dan, you can take that car for sure. I'm guessing the you could take the Chevelle, too, especially off the line! Nothing like torque!

Sounds like the first 2 kids have the ricer attitude and are all talk. I wouldnt race the 3rd kid even if there were a 3ft thick lead wall 10ft high between us...

How about this.....Race him and lose. Yes, thats right lose. Tell him that you almost had him and that you think you can win next time. Next time you race, sucker him into betting you for money :Brow: On the next race, let it all hang out and collect your winnings. If your going to race him, mind as well make some money doing it.

Or you can just tell him what I tell all the ricers in my area..." No, I dont want to race for money. Lets race for registrations. I need a piece of crap to go back and forth to work in"

The iroc might have a 350 as I think that was an option. However, even at it's peak it had less than 200hp. Nothing I would worry about.

4 inches exhaust??? That's like an artillery gun, he must have been joking??? Well, what do I know, but it just sounds alot.. The kids are from the farm next to you; race them for a year's supply of beef and milk, or corn or what ever..

You could always line up with him, then when its time to go, push a pretend button on your steering wheel and scream ''NAWZZZZ" like they did on fast and the furious... Screw with the kid and tell him you got 2 bottles, the big ones.. ect..

    Thats awesome!

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

Not to defend the kid with the IROC, but.....keep in mind that the F-bodies had a single pipe coming off the Y-pipe, all the way back to the muffler. Mildly overkill.....at least for a 305". They didn't have a true dual exhaust like our A-bodies.

Course....who knows if it's only a 305"?? :Brow: A 400" looks just the same - unless you know what to look for. You might sneak a peak at the rear. If it's the stocker.....it's only a matter of time before it blows chunks!! My brother has put 3 in his '88 TPI 305" IROC.

That said.....I wouldn't worry too much about racing any of them!! :TU: Have fun messing with them.

They did come with 350 as an option. I also think they made 215 HP

He told me that he has a 305 in the IROC, but plans to put a 350 in it. I want to see how long before he wrecks it first. My money is on him wrecking the car before he has a chance to put a 350 into it. I haven't really looked over the car yet. I know it has dual mufflers, with dual tail pipes on both of them. They look to be @ 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" tail pipes. He also told me he had a chance to race an older Porsche a few days ago. They pulled up to a light, side be side. He slipped the car into neutral, and reved the motor a few times to get things going. But when the light turned green, he just waved at the other driver as he screemed off the line. I asked why he did that, his reply was "that car would have killed me". I said so, at least you could say you tried, even if you get killed. He said why bother if you know you can't win. He's a wus if he thinks it will be tight. I'm sure it will be fun to race him knowing that.

Try to get them to race you at a drag strip.

The second guy (IROC) may not pass tech. The first guy.... tell him to ask his dad for permission to get spanked by a Buick.

Sounds like there will be more trash talkin' than racing with those two. But the second guy you want to race somewhere safe... he sounds like an idiot.

    1. Be careful, 2. beat them somewhere public and you might just convert them to Buick.
