I have the ram air hood and want to know what keeps water from entering and going all over my engine ( at best) or worse down my carb during a rain storm ? Yikes what about going through a car wash , which I won't do anyways but just a thought?

The ram air cups on the air cleaner have holes in it for drainage.

Which keeps water out of the intake, but drops it right on top of the distributor. :pp
A good heavy rain or a car wash can soak the distributor, and the car won't start until you dry it out.

I had the water on the distributor problem for awhile. I filled in all but the front (towards bumper) holes with a dab of silicone caulk. This still allowed drainage but not so much it wets the distributor.

If the distributor cap ,and wires are in good shape, water shouldn't bother them much.

Not had too many '70-'72 GS's, have you?

Under normal circumstances, I'd agree with you.

I've had a GS for few years but never drove it in the rain or when there might even be a chance for rain.
If I were going to chance it, I would come up with a spare regular air cleaner and somehow plug the
hood vents either from above or below the hood. Same goes for washing although I never use a hose
on any of my cars, only a wet rag and towel.

I bought my wife a new car. She called and said, "There was water in the carburetor."
I asked her , "Where's the car?" She replied, "In the lake."
