Benjamin (my son) and I explored a yard today - about 5 minutes from my home. We didn't find any earth-shattering, college fund type cars, but we had a great time. The owner doesn't know the meaning of the word "crusher!" :TU: The neat thing is, I'll bet no one has touched some of these cars for 30 years or more - except the snakes. The attached pics are just the beginning. They just go on and on. The cars are all pretty complete. This isn't a public business, so the cars just sit and quietly disintegrate. Found some great non-Buick stuff too...lots of 60's Chevy full-size. I threw in the pic of the Pontiac because it was/is a convertible. Anyway, just thought you might like to see.
Now that's a crime..no college fund.. yeah I'm watching a 64 Cuda rust down as the guy isn't going to sell.."Ima gonna fixer up" yeh right..o No:
I think it was just a Tempest/Lemans. When I go back, I'll look for sure. And yes, you're right, I'm going back in the next week or two to pull the Wonderbar radio out of the Roadmaster...before the brush covers them up again and the spiders wake up.
No its not a GTO. The GTO have a black grille, GTO emblem instead of Pontiac and twin hood-scoops. Thank God for that.
i know where a 63 split window vet and an 87 gn with 2000 mi sit behind a barn and the guy wont sell. :ball:
Good morning Daryl Does the junkyard down the road have a good set of J bars for the back bumper of a 56 Buick? Any help appreciated thanks. Ross
I am looking for both trunk handles of the 56 Roadmaster in good shape, are they still there ? Thanks.
Hi Daryl The J-bars are the chrome pieces on the rear bumpers that are shaped like small hockey sticks and wrap around the bottom corners just above the exhaust outlets. Usually they are rusted or dented. Possibly called over riders or bumper extensions.
I finally got there guys...with bad news. CaptSkol: The handles are gone. Buickboy: THese J Bars are both rusted and dented.ou: Sorry guys - I guess the search continues. D-
Thank you for your help, if they are repairable they may still be worth the effort for someone as they are getting hard to find in any condition. Holes and dents can be fixed, any chance of a photo, or does someone know of a nice set that are for sale?
Hey guys, I've been off for a while - busy, you know. I'll see if I can get out there in the next couple weeks and snap a pic or two. You know, I didn't see much old Mopar stuff - I always thought it just dissolves into dust after a few years.
