Guest speakers were members of the GSX development team. They all signed my trunk lid as a little something special. The "Stage 2" signature is "Denny Manner" who was the lead engineer for Buick Engines and "the man" behind all Buick performance starting with the dual quad 425 and continuing till retirement in the mid 90's. He and his team did the Stage 1 and the Stage 2 design and development. Denny came by my trailer and checked out the Stage 2 heads that will be going on my engine and shared some great stories and memories from "back in the day!"
Some of the pictures with mostly yellow X's looks like a school bus parking lot! Lucky bastards! Wish I had a school bus like that! The only problem with having a reunion like this is, how do you top it next year? Not a bad problem to have, though.
Heres a few pics of my X with Dons. His X is 585 mine is 586 i followed him to the track saturday.Thats Don smiling ear to ear. We were in the same boat together trying to get are cars done for the reunion.Im glad we both made it.It was a pleasure meeting him and his wife.
+1 This was an AWESOME event and it was great to see and meet so many GSX owners. :beer Thanks to Mark, Duane and everyone who worked so hard to make this happen! Paul
Thanks Rob and Jay for posting the pics of my car, we stopped in Joplin MO for the night after driving 12 hrs. Another 10 to 12 tomorrow back to Midland. Thanks to Mark and Dewayne and all the BPG guys for this "Once in a life time" event. It was worth the drive!!! I'll share pics when I get home.
This was really neat, wish I could have gone to check out all the X's. I hope someone in charge of organizing this event contacted one of the Musclecar Magazine's to have a full color feature doneo No: The last time this many GSX's were parked in one lot together was probably back in 1970 at some assembly plant holding lot, awaiting to be loaded onto a transporter.
WOW i cant believe how many cars there was one thing missing .....ME DAM . I will have to plan on this event for next year maybe next year more cars will show up with such a special event for buick owners non of us are getting any younger and for most cars that dont get out much what a way to let those cars that were so special piece of time be shared with so many of us that were not around in those days or not old enough to know how special they were. Maybe next year invite the 547 gnx owners just a thought:idea2: if there was no gsx there would be no gnx
Heaven on Earth for a very short while. Words cannot describe the feeling of standing right in the middle of those beautiful Buicks p Rob, it was great meeting you and the family. Awesome feeling to have helped the restoration of your fantastic GSX in a small way :3gears: Peace WildBill
This event has always been excellent but this year it was OUT of this world ! Mark ,Duane and STAFF did the impossible . Many stories about these cars, from design , production etc to a car for sale at the show. On the first page is a picture of a 71 (?) dk green GSX with Vtop, Rust 4spd 455 etc . He was offered 18K said he would take 20k and sold it. Later he was offered $25k , not sure of the outcome. White GSX 585 586 587 all there in a line, a 70 Yellow GSX 4 spd just found that was converted to a bench seat with auto ?????????????????????? WHY? and the stories keep coming.
Bill, The car was purchased in the late 80's by a girl that didn't like driving a stick car, so she had it converted to an automatic. They threw in a bench seat/automatic column-shift and off she went. Don't worry Tim will correct this.:3gears: Glad everyone had a good time. Duane
Attached is a "GSX-a-rama" shot I made in Photoshop from Rob's great pictures! I'll remove that pole and post that when I get caught up on my projects at work Paul
Well, Dave and Rob (I think), drove from the Northwest from the pacific coast. You should have spoke up, they probably would have picked you up along the way if you needed a ride! :beer
