See I'm building a 455 as I speak and Im thinking that maybe I should just throw a blower into the mix you know just for grins and giggles:Brow: but havent herd anything on a blower that will not only bolt up to a 455 buick but also function great. Every buick guy i see come threw the shop or car shows etc. like to keep then for the most part stock. Well I not one for keeping a car stock especially one I plan on keeping forever or passed down the tree. If anyone knows of one or has a blown 455 any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Centrifugal superchargers ehh? Well, if any of you guys that have been experimenting with them please give me some input, I was thinking about getting a 471 supercharger or something not so extreme I don't really want a BIG scoop or a blower sticking out I still want it to look like a sleeper which in most buicks cases have no problem doing. A Centrifugal supercharger would be cool and was and still is an option

I tried all three links and they worked, not sure what's going on there? :Do No:

I don't see how you could use a roots style blower and not have it stick out of the hood. If you are looking for stealth, the centrifugel will be your best bet.

Im thinking a 471 would fit i might need to add a little scoop which would be fine but if im going to go with a 671 or 871 might be a little hard to hide. Yeah but I dont know what im going to do yet been looking threw hampton and might end up going with them

I am one of the few running a Centrifugal charger on the 455 right now....... I have a feeling more will follow. This kit was just released about 2 months ago........ It's a pretty sweet setup.

What would you like to know about it?

Im starting from ground zero and if i go with centrifugal would stage 1 specs work wit the supercharger or would i have to have lower compression what engine work is recomended for the supercharger I dont want tohave to rebuild the engine again to make it compatable, thanks for all your help

    Adam,

You would be able to run boost through your Stage spec'd motor..... Just not as much as a low compression motor. A 10 to 1 motor can get away with running 5psi of non intercooled boost. If you run a cooler, they (ATI) clames you can run as much as 14.

You could always do some small things to lower your compression such as thicker head gaskets and some combustion chamber work.........

    Whats the diff between models?

What is the difference between the two models XSPerformance offers? I know one puts out more flow, but is that it? I have a feeling I wont need the larger model, due mostly to compression restricting high boost, but I wondered if there were any other differences. Also, what kind of $ does the intercooler run? TIA

There are quite a few differances in the P1 and D1 chargers. The only ones I know of are..........

    1. The D1 flows more (letting it make more power if ever needed)
    2. The shaft is bigger on the D1 (I can't remember if other internals are stronger as well.......
    3. it uses a 12 rib pulley instead of a 8 rib..........

For more details as well as price on a cooler, you would want to talk with Mike...... Shoot him an email.

I think im going to go with a blower i would really like to find a kenne-bell blower, I know they have been invoilved with buicks for some time now but I wasnt able to find a website that said they made them for 455's or seen any pictures either. Dont they make them for 455's? If they do can someone who knows a website where i could maybe see some pictures and get a price on one, I looked on the web the best i could but then again Im not really advanced when it comes to the internet thanks for all the help guys.:beer

Kenne-Bell was involved with Buick 455's (and turbos too ?) for quite a number of years, but recently got out. TA actually bought the mold for the KB intake I believe.
As far as superchargers go, they make screw-types sc kits for late-models, but nothing for older cars. If you really want a KB blower, you could make an adapter plate to use one with a roots blower intake manifold.
