I Pulled this off GSXecitment. I don't know how many people got to see it so I thought I would post this here. With a lot of help from about 10 or 12 of my good friends we were able to put together a new car starting the first of January and finishing just before the nats. It took us 122 days to complete this deal. The car was pretty rough when we started but it got repainted, chassis work and assembled in those 122 days. Here are the folks who helped make it happen: My wife Amy and son Anthony Jeff Hart John Stevens Jeff Ketchum Tim Clow Dave Dechent Larry Spicer Darryl Sigourney DTS Carl and Jamie Wolcott Chad Miller These people worked harder than they had to make sure I was ready for the nats and I have to say a big thanks. The car is not up to speed yet but should be soon the suspension needs some work to get it to work and the motor was not up to snuff do to some last minute scrambling but I was there and that was the most important thing for me.
Congrat's Bobb! Amazing how this Buick family can pull together to make miracles happen. Any photo's during construction? :Brow:
This is what it looked like when we started. I must say it looks a lot better in pictures than it did in person the roof rails were rusted right out ant the car was just rough in general
Bobbs the man, he let me sit in the new car and it was very comfortable, he's a tad taller than me, but it would work. I was suprised that he had hidden the car untill the Nats, (good Job) I am excited that my friend has so much enthusiasim to build a car at this level after what he has gone through. Bobb, I was imppressed!! and very GLAD your back!!!! Bruce
Glad you are still racing! Bobb, sure seemed like it was a dream..a bad dream...but it lives!!!! Was good to see you thrashing with the rest of us in the pits, you are a lucky guy, and we are also lucky to know you. Race ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :3gears:
I was going to make another thread but I will say it here......... Bobb......Thanks to you for getting back after it! I also thank the people that got you there,It wouldn't be a Buick race w/o you.(Doug is the other guy I say that about). You built a car that is in my opinion..........COOOL :Brow: Sorry I got rid of the 505 before you could make me look bad,But I ain't done with these Buick just yet.......May not be sitting all this year after all. Now go get that suspension right!!!!! Then get to the track before you forget how to cut a light........And oh yeah,The burnouts look better and more consistent.
Alll Right!! while looking through the various photos at professional motorsports photography (or what ever they are called) I saw this black car but had no idea who to attribute it to. now i know!! great job gang and congrats to bob for being "BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN!!" :beer :3gears: :beer
Bobb, Got and more close ups of how the front bars that are on the frame go through the firewall?? I am planning on doing the same thing and could use the help in a pic so I know where I need to go through it at.After your incident and the latest at BG I think I will maybe overbuild my project.Too old for that wall hitting stuff. Pat
Pat send me a PM with your e-mail I can send you what I have I don't know if they will help or not. My chassis guy is great he did the whole car in less than 30 days all chromemoly. I think that is the best way to go.
Dudes, If I had it to do over again, I'd have gone chromemoly from front to back. As it stands now, my chassis is 2x3 mild steel and my cage is chromemoly. Actually, if I had it to do over again, I'd have gone for electro-shock therapy instead. Cheaper and more rewarding.
