How do you say "Thank You" when those words barely begin to express your sentiments ?? Hopefully telling all of you in V8Buick land what a GREAT friend Bill is is a good begining ... ... Im about to begin restoration / renovation of my 80-year old house starting with re-supporting it by replacing the main beam and adding 2 sub-beams and then re-leveling everything that sits atop. Problem is that the contractor I've hired to do that work needed alot of the 80-year old Steam Pipe moved to give him clearence ... as well as ALOT of the copper hot/cold pipes moved as well ou: Another friend offered to help me save money by "us" doing all of the pipe work instead of paying a hefty fee to a plumber ... good intentions but the follow through left alot to be desired. I was ready to literally "Pay the Piper" but then ... I called Bill to talk about BigRed and he asked how the house project was going. I filled him in on the problem and he said "No Problem !! I'll be over tomorrow AM early..." That was last weekend and in 2 days we had the whole steam system refurbished and worked so it did not interfere with where the beam is/will be. I dont know if any of you have ever worked on 80 year old, 2" steam pipe but to say it wasn't exactly "fun" would be an understatement. With the Steamwork done and ONLY having the whole water supply system needing re-routing ... and having imposed greatly on Bill already I was hesitant to even ask for his help with the copper. But, it was Bill who sent me a PM on Friday asking what time he should be over on Sat Morning !! ... with a shopping list of stuff for me to get from Da Depot for us to get started. We got to work at about 11:30a and by about 10p we had used up 60' of tubing, ALOT of 90* elbows, T's, valves, and caps and sweated over 70 !! Joints Not only did he "do" but he also taught - I had never sweated a joint in my life and now I won't even hesitate to move foward as needed (new kitchen installs ... bathroom ...etc) Bill - I know I can never say thanks enough for it to feel adequate to me ... we met, and our friendship is due to the word BUICK and what that means and I feel its very true that BUICK People are the absolute BEST :beers2:
Holy Cow.... I get wasted on one joint.....OOOPS I mean, thats alot of joints...Umm.. Oh Well... Its guys like Bill that make the world a better place. Deanna's uncle Bob(bless his soul) was alot like that as well. Its sure nice to have friends like that. I'm thinking a big ole Honkin' Steak will definitely help out..Where are the pics? I'd like to see that new beam fix too,as its cool to see work like that done..
FRESH Strawberry preserves ala "Mrs. Big Red" and the bottomless fresh brewed coffee maker!!! Nothing could be better Like Alan wrote, the people I have met and befriended in this Buick community have shown a quality of character above any of the other "circles" I've been associated in the many years involved in this hobby. I have been the recipient of the good will that seems to be the standard among the "Buick folk" and am more than willing to return those favors. Alan has more than once extended those qualities in order to help me on a few occassions. Alan and the rest of the "strong island crew" are considered by me to be good friends and I won't hesitate to "lend a hand" whenever one of them needs help.:TU:
