It was news to me, though I'm sure many here know this. I was watching Chasing Classic Cars yesterday and Wayne was bidding at a Mecum auction on a 1968 Jeep Wagoneer. I did a double take on the under hood camera shot. Buick 350 power. Turns out that was the case from '68 to '71.
Yes, Buick 350 (Vigilante!) were optional during those three years, as the old AMC 327 was being phased out. I owned a '71 J4000 with a SBB and a four speed
yes,it has its own forum section on hear...jeepswith a buick heartbeat or osmethingalong the lines of that oh and itwasnt dubbed vigilante..that was the 327? buick 350 just like the v6 that were in jeeps were dubbed "Dauntless"
We even have a special section on the board for cars like that: Jeeps with the Buick Heartbeat :Comp: Everything you want to know about Buick powered Jeeps.
That's where I got my one 350 manual flywheel from as well. I walked by and seen the motor in the Jeep as the guy was pulling the motor for scrap. Picked up an 11 inch clutch flywheel for a cool 25 bucks...Now it currently resides in my 73 GS..
