im still new to the muscle thing. i just bought a 64 skylark witha a 455 swap in it and turbo 400th trans. i have also bought the fallowing parts 4 core rad new starter alt hei distrib. and 8mm plug wires. my question is. my current carb on the car leakes and all that junk.(shot) and i want to know what size carb i should buy? i was thinking a elelbrock 800cfm thuner searies. thats waht the guy said at the parts place. and i also wanted to know what size exhuast i should run on the car. 2 1/4 2 1/2 3" what size pipe? im gonna put flowmastre 40s on it? i work at a parts ware house so id just like to know what some of you think on these choices. or what you would reckamend? thanks rodney.
Dead on with the carb size. I've heard good and bad on Edlebrock carbs and have never used one myself so I can't say there. Have you thought about rebuilding the carb you have? Save a few bucks that way. I'd go with 2 1/2 on the exhaust. Take it all the way out to the bumper. You will get alot of resonance if you dump it before the axle.
