This is a 68 GS 400 4 speed car that has eluded me for over twenty years of not for sale, changing price, for sale til I got there etc.Its rough to say the least and missing the engine and trans but I will restore it as I think it is worthy of it.It is a factory disc brake, posi, rallye suspension car with a console mounted tach, optional head rests, speed alert, belt reveal moulding and not much more .But thats kinda the way I wanted my 4 speed to be.It is Black vinyle top, burnished saddle body with a buckskin interior.

Is that the car from Mike's Restos (I think it was Mikes)?

There was an ad in the old car trader for a GS400 4 speed a while back, in Chase. I called many times and e-mailed him also, but never a returned call. There was pics of it on his web site, but I can't recall what colour it was, etc.

I hope you got a really good deal on the car, as it looks like you will be spending some $$$$$ on it!

Congrats on getting it now it will just take a "few" hours of the special touch. Is that a 65 in the background of the first pic? Also I think I see a 73 -75 GMC Jimmy full convertable top K-5 in the second pic!

You're right. Car is a bit rough, but I'm happy to see another Buick GS rescued from the junkyard. Good luck on the restoration!

    Hey Brian
This is one of Mikes piles. The car needs quarters and a trunk. The frame is good and I have the doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid already to go.I also have the drive train ready except for the munie. The 68 Skylark I started needed basically the same resto but at least this was a 4 speed GS to start with. This one I will take the frame off and start there.Heres an interesting shot from out at Mikes

Good score Cole. I e-mailed him a few times about the car, but never did get any replies. I hope you got a good deal on it. Seemed he wanted a ton of money for everything there - mostly junk parts cars IMO.

Glad somebody rescued one of those cars at least.

    Brian

PS, do you know of a blue '66 Skylark in Kamloops? It is for sale in the new issue of Old Car Trader. Looks not bad for $8500 or so.

The car looks rough for sure.It is probably the worst car I've taken on as a project.Whats that called heart over head thinking!?:Do No: The good thing is having a few parts cars around me to help. The car also has all the 4 speed bits still on it.Of course it will never be # s matching without the engine and trans but I have a nice staged 455 all done and the rest of the drive train.I have really nice doors, fenders, hood and trunk lid already in high solids ready for the painter. This was all stuff that was ready to go into my 68 lark.I wasn't going to frame off that car so this will be the more expense and time addition. As I stripped the 400 car down it was nice not to find any more rust than what I new was there!

I do know that car Brian. He drove it by my work so I could look at it.That day it was $5800!!He had just put the wheels and tires on and they cut the inner lips so they'de fit!!Nice bucket interior, but the paint was a driveway job with lots of bugs and crap in it and the body was showing signs of major rust ready to pop through. Most of the chrome was nice including the pot metal stuff that is always pitted. The car looked good from far but far from good.......Cole

Agreed. I watched that car on ebay a couple times and it seemed like not a bad price for the car. I assume it eventually sold as it has not been listed in a while.

Those are the same rims I had ordered for my car, but did not fit in back. I ended up using 15x7 rallies instead.

Keep us posted on your progress!:beers2:
