    hello again.
hopefully someone out there has dealt with :Do No: this issue and can advise me what to do,

the accelerator ignition switch is inoperable, i have been told it is common to replace with a switch located in the dash?? a pretty simple job.
is this the way to go.
    any advice-much appreciated.
    thanks aussie buick.

    Starter Switch

Yes, it is a common and easy solution.

You have two wires going to the passenger side of your carbutator. I think they are pink and yellow. These go to the starter switch built onto the carb base. Take them off the carb, and pul them back through the hole in the firewall. This should be in the center a little behind the heater ducts. GO buy a momentary switch (push button type) from a parts store and mount it to your dash. connect the wires and it is done. I think I had to lengthen mine to go to the left of the steering column but you can put the switch any where you like.

Just make sure to DISCONNECT the battery before starting. If the key gets turned to on, one wire will be 'hot'.

I just dissassembled and cleaned mine and sprayed with it WD40 and it has worked for 4 years now.
