Yea, they all move here from Wisconsin, or Chicago or the east coast. Before those guys showed up, it wasn't too bad. Now, all bets are off...
i hate tailgaters!!! my first experience with a tailgater was the day i got my driver's licence. i was driving my dad'a 63 impala 2dr ht, home from the test, with my dad in the car. we are on a paved 2 lane road, 60 mph, very few cars on the road. this dik approaches from behind within a carlength or less of the impala. he did not pass when he could have. instead he stayed too close. my dad took a look & told me to just to touch the brake pedal . of course i did. as soon as the brake lights lit up, man u should have witnessed the results. this yahoo hit his brakes (drums i believe) because he slid all over the road before he got slowed down. dangerous situation ? yes, but it worked . he then kept his distance.
It would have been even more dangerous if you had actually had to hit the brakes to avoid someone else. The guy tailgating would have been all over you! At least it would have been his fault! :TU: ou:
My dad taught me the way to properly handle tailgaters without it being a safety issue. AND, it irritates the guy behind you much more than the brake method. Clean your windows for a while, for a mile or two (empty the windshield washer fluid resevoir completely, if necessary) Man behind gets extremely aggravated because he has to continually use his wipers and cannot drive close because he can't see thru all the wiper fluid :Brow:  One dollar of wiper fluid goes a long way......
conversion opportunity ? Hey Johnno, I hope you took the opportunity to try to convert some of those fart piped import dudes into some Buick American Muscle. Tailgaters - in one of my earlier 69 buicks there was a dash mounted switch to activate the brake lights without actually braking. Really freaked some people out. Later
mine was to pull the e-brake and downshift in the old POS so the taillights woulden't go on had a few close calls but never hit. I'm sure it freaked the crud out of the guy tailgating me.
I used to move the shifter (auto) quickly to reverse and back - just enough to turn on the backing lights, but not enage anything. That really freaked them out, and they backed off quickly.
