air cleaner??

    Are the butterflys in the snorkel aircleaner vacuum open or close? Mine are open and new lines won't move to close and the car doesn't run well until it warms up. The springs feel like a vacuum would not close them. The choke seems to work OK. Thanks Mark Rehr

    Vaccuum closed, the left one(drivers side) opens when the thermal vaccuum switch in the air cleaner opens, the right side opens at low vaccuum conditions...like when you have floored the gas! Your diaphrams are probably bad

    Thanks that explains the different routing of the vacuum lines. Does someone make the diaphrams? Will look into when I get off work in the morning. Mark

    I don't know of anyone that makes replacements....does not mean no one does though. Check yours with a vaccuum pump to make sure they are bad.
    Proper line routing should be both diaphrams "T"eed together, that line going to the thermal switch, the other line out of the switch goes to the carb vaccuum port
