i have a 1967 buick lesabre, hardtop, 4 dr and am looking to put air ride (bags) in my car. i was wondering if there is anyone outthere with a similar car with bags in it already. how hard is it to do and do you recommend any particular products or companies that make good bags. im new to bags but have been cruising for years. just trying to take it to the next level. any input would be great. im riding on 14 in rims right now. thanks

    It so easy...

even a caveman could do it...no..really...its all pretty much plug and play..you can go as mild or wild as you want depending on line size, compressors, valve size, and number of tanks- go to their website and order a brochure...

what type of compressor is reccomendable? ive heard that viair is the best..?? im new to the air bag suspension thing. mostly into hydros. but dont want to mess up my baby, so id rather bag it. what about if i want it to lift fast, bigger hose lines im assuming? does the bag itself actually decrease the rate of inflation, are there faster bags? thanks

    unless you're hopping

the bags and compressors that airride has are good. I use a 1/2 line set-up with 2 viaair compressors (400's I think) and 2 5 gallon tanks with 1/2 fast valves. All the bells and whistles and remotes. Cost about 5 grand. Good luck!! :beer

Check with David Gramlow on this board.......he can get pretty much all of that.

If by chance he can't, I'd check with www.airridepro.com - much cheaper than Air Ride Technology. A.R.T. has good stuff - just not cheap.

What size compressor you buy will be mostly determined by how fast you want to go up, once you're down. If you don't mind a bit of a wait, a simple 3/8" line setup will be fine. If you'd like to speed things up - might want to look at a 1/2" line setup. If you're looking to do some hopping, plan on about double that.

I would recommend a F.B.S.S. type controller(front, back, side to side). While the simple dual controllers are fine (front & back), it is nice to be able to control each corner. Handling will vastly improve by being able to control all fours.

If you have inside mechanical valves, make sure they dump outside. The lines will get moisture inside and leave a coating of rust on your carpet otherwise. With outside electronic valves, you don't have to worry about that. :TU:

for any of you that have air bags, can you lay your frame on the ground and then raise it considerably off the ground? just wondering.

The only thing stopping my minitruck from totally sitting on the frame is the tranny crossmember.

There is a pretty good height difference when fully up. Gotta be at least 8" or so. On a bigger vehicle though, you should have the option of larger bags/shocks.

ive been looking at airridepro.com and ridetech.com and see very similar products for the front and back end. i was wondering if there are any major quality differences between the two companies. if anyone has used either of their products do you prefer one over another. ARP seems to be alot cheaper for the front end bag/shock combination which i need for my lesabre to keep the bags from bowing and popping. let me know what ya'll think. thanks

Not sure what brand of tanks.....the suspension was done before I got the truck.

Running a single 5 gal. tank and a single Thomas compressor.

If I was doing one myself, I would have a pair of each - but, with bigger ViAir compressors and 1/2" lines/fittings. Side to side controls would be a nice addition also.

Just to jump in quick...be aware the LeSabre's suspension has built-in hard stops that won't ever let the travel go to the point of putting the frame rails on the ground...I'd think that would take some serious surgery.

Yes, the same question from me....

I have a set for a 59 Chevy, that came with my new El Camino, but I do not know if this will fit my cats... :Do No:

after reading up alot about airbags over the past 3 weeks, i know that for the rear if the kit fits, then it fits, but u may have to find someone that welds. cuz if you kit is a bolt on for the 59 chev, then obviously the holes wont match up. if you elk has the 59 kit in it, then it seems to me that the kit should be interchangable. as long as you weld in the right places. i know that ridetech has a kit for rivs and full size buicks.
