Anyone have issues with their TA Girdled rear end cover not lining properly? (8.5 rear end) The top two and bottom three are off by .030" and .050" in opposite directions? The aluminum frame motor mounts don't seem to line up with anything either> :Dou:

Have you compared the part numbers (in catalog) of what you ordered against what you actually received (invoice)? I also have a TA rear cover (fits fine) but I used Poston frame pads (fit fine) also. Sounds like you either ordered the wrong part numbers or received other than what you ordered. If I can be of any help please ask.

I will check with the guy who ordered them for me... Otherwise I might be able to dig a part number off the parts? .. I'll get back to ya! Thanks

Found it. They sent the BOP, I ordered the 8.5 10 bolt grand national cover :Dou:

Now I need to figure out the alum frame pads for the motor mount.

What exactly is the problem with the mounts? Do you have the engine mounts in the #2 and #4 holes on the engine? Give us some details.

I did double check and they are in 2 and 4. The tranny mount is not here yet so eyeballed the distance for the tranny / motor orintation. I will bet once the trany is in the right spot this will become a bit more clear as to what is going on. The guys working on the mounts (I was working on the brakes) said we might get one or two bolts to line up and even then it doesn't sit very flat on the frame. They suggested "spotting in" the bottom of the pads.

Are you trying to use the holes already (factory) drilled in the frame? If so you have to e-longate some of them and drill new ones for the others. I bolted a bare block to the transmission with the engine mounts installed, frame mounts bolted to the engine mounts, lowered it down on the frame, centered it, painted around the frame mounts with white paint, pulled the block back out, took cardboard and made a template of the bottom of each frame mount, painted the bottom of each frame mount and stuck the cardboard back on them so the paint would show were the bolts holes needed to be then put that template (cardboard) over the area that I had painted white and that told me where I needed to either E-longate a hole or drill a new one in the frame. Sorry to go on so long but this is how I did it.

Forgot to say that I didn't think of this procedure, it was listed in the "Sticky" 455/350 Regal Swapout FAQ by Leviathan. He sure made my swap easier, thanks Leviathan:TU: :TU:

I am sure your motor mounts will be a simple solution like your cover was. I have the TA cover and it is perfect. I have the motor mounts and trans mounts from them as well. Everything is a perfect fit and exceptional quality.

I just finished mine, and having the trans crossmember in is a big help for the mounts...none of the frame holes line up for the motor mount pads, I used a bare block and trans case to position the pads-time consuming but do-able, and worked out great in the end

No,no, please go on. We figured that is how we would end up, just thought there might be an easier way, like using the right pads if they existed.

Thanks again, we will try again with your method :TU: ! Actually, this makes perfect sense what you did as this seemed to be the only way to continue.

The REST of the parts to finish the car (minus misc blots and such) will be here in the next week or two... I am sure these issues will be coming back on other parts. I really appreciate the help.

We have the same set up going... the bare block is bolted to the race tranny. You are right, I will wait for the trans mount to show up before I start drilling more holes in the frame. Thanks for the support. :TU:
