OK, I have a 350 in a 72 skylark GS. I just bought the Rochester stock carb that goes on my engine, but i'm not sure if I need the TCS and Idle Stop solenoids for my vehicle. I know that the TCS connected to the vacuum, but is it necessary to just get the engine running? Also, does anyone know of a site that shows the connecting of this carbeurator to the various hoses? I got this car towed over with nothing attached, and was told the car was ready to drive.

You do not need the TCS solenoid at all unless you are doing a concourse restoration. All it does is stop vacuum advance in 1st and 2nd gears, then allows it in 3rd. Just connect a hose from the carb to the vacuum advance on the distributor. The idle stop solenoid ups the engine idle with the the A/C compressor is on, and closes the throttle plates when you shut the motor down to prevent run-on. You probably won't need that either. You can get the motor running just fine without either of these parts.

Thanks for the answer. Naah, that's my nickname, but it works just as well.

I actually have no AC in the car. Theunit just doesn't seem to be there. The hookups, yes. The unit, no.

Then again, this is a car where the previous owner wired the choke on a Holley 1850 open to the alternator bracket, and attached the tachometer directly to the battery terminals. Go figure...........
