I drove 2.5 hours sunday to southern Maine to rescue this 71 Skylark Custom from a trip to the crusher...by God there was a Buick that needed to be rescued and I stepped up ! Once I got there I was wondering why I did such a stupid thing... :Dou: Its not all bad, good frame, complete AC setup with turning compressor, a 350 4V that hand turns at least, TH 350, ten bolt with a CHROME cover [woo hoo! :TU: ] and a really really SEXY heavy duty home built frame mounted trailer hitch ! 14" rallys with lock lugs on front with no key [joy  ] power drum brakes, and a brand new CAMARO gas tank in the front seat [ I don't HAVE any Camaros ]. No idea what the heck I am going to do with it right now other than clean it out and stick it out back out of sight  . Sometimes I even confuse myself. :Do No:
Special thanks to my true blue Buick friend Charlie for going along to help and keep me smiling :) , we shot a whole day to hell but we had some laughs [ and drove over curbs in the dark ]. Maybe next time we will both stay home and work on the Buicks we already have ! :pp

You left out the rare tri-color paint scheme.

Hey, the trim alone has to be worth something. Headlight buckets, tail lamps and housings, marker lamps etc. It's only time. :Dou:

    Good save.

I found a 71 350auto gs rusting away. I too ponder if it`s worth trying to purchase it. Rust is everywhere, even the hood is damaged. There are parts on the car that are good but I know if I manage to gain custody of it I`ll never be able to strip it for parts. Think this ride is worth saving?

You know, I bought a 70 rs camaro to part out awhile ago, while I was buying it I had the same thought run through my head, "can I actually part this out, im probably going to want to keep it." Turns out I didnt, and it was really easy to part it out! Haha, made some more money to stick into my mustang!

Not New England...Canada, looks like you guys are keeping the salt mines open too. Maybe we could build one good one out of the 2? Heres a pic of the floor after i picked the carpet up last night :(

the rest is rot solid, we'll have to turn down the pressure on the sandblaster :puzzled:

Other than cleaning out that turd, finding the lug key and getting tires on it that hold air. I still have not done much with it. Found lots of parts burried inside, still have not even got it unloaded from the trailer yet [ was waiting for the ground to freeze up ]. Need to get it stashed before I can drag in another one, think I will get it running to move it under its own power. :TU:

    Winter sucks :(

Here's a pic from the ad where I bought it.

Hey everyone, turns out this turd actually runs ! And runs GOOD ! Go figure !!! Kinda loud with the rotted off pipes but once we got a coil on it that was good , hit it with a little gas, it fired right away and went straight to a respectible idle !!! :Do No: Unfortunately after an afternoon of screwing around getting cooling system plumbed up and fuel lines hooked up the starter gave out so I will have to stick a starter on it next :Dou: , good thing I have about 10 of them stashed. We are having the warmest January on record here in Maine, it was up to 60 a few days ago !!!!!!!! Broke ALL records since weather recording began in this country !! Windy and cold today [ in the 20'2 to 30's ] but still a far cry from the -5 to +5 above and 2 feet of snow we usually have this time of year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :TU:
