Well,I finally received my export car scam form letter. This came from 123.com, not Yahoo. I should forward it to a Hyundai dealership. Dan

    Dear Sir
my name is mr eric ken from west africa.after much surfing on the web
i came across an advert about your cars for sale i have
been searching for this type , for sale which matches the description
you gave about it so without further delay i would like to purchase them
for my own personal use. i really need it.so if you are willing to sell
I am eager to purchase it with earnest as soon as possible. the price
of the items . i am willing to pay but i wolud like you to know of
how the transaction is going to be carried out. i have a certified
cheque for the payment of the items. don't
worry about the shipping, my international shipping agent will take care
of all the shipping procedures.he is going to make out a document for
shipping and port authority.this is how it is going to be as soon as you
recieve the cheque you go straight to the bank and
cash the cheque. then wire the remaining balance.it is after you have wiried the
balance that my shipping agent will come and
collect the items so if you agree with the terms i need the required
information in order for me to send you the cheque.

Sounds like they will end you a check for too much money, right? He wants you to wire a "remaining balance" back to him? If the check is legitimate, and you can cash it without problems, then it sounds like a money laundering scheme whereby they have you convert funds for them.

Man. Some people. I hope they all get theirs someday.

The money order is a fake. As its certified the bank cashes it directly to your account. You wire the money on to the "shipping agent". About 30-60 days later the bank finally realises its been done and takes the money back off you as a failed check.

OK I have an idea for these "folks" yall tell me what you think. OK........

So you get contacted by said crook.........

2- you AGREE to his terms and ACCEPT the cashiers check(say $6000)........

3- you cash it and accept all his money but DON'T send the balance back. You deposit it, in full, into a savings account and DON'T TOUCH IT !!...........

4- in the 30-40 days when the bank figures it all out, you actually REPAY them to amount($6000) from the second account in full............

    BUT,

5- in the mean time you use the total amount in the seperate account to gain yourself a couple bucks of free interest. :Brow:

Why wouldn't "this" work ? After the bank figures it out, then fine, You agree that it was a scam, thank them over and over for catching it and saving your car, and repay the $6000. And be the nice guy and try and help them find the crook. But all the while, collecting a free 12 pack for the months interest(or whatever). AND if somehow it falls through the cracks, we all know its a scam, so whats the crook gonna do ? Run to the S. African police and tell them he got took, trying to take someone in the U.S. ?

    You can't hustle a hustler,lol.......................

    later................................

I can't imagine you would be able to earn enough interest to pay the fees you'll be charged for cashing the bad check.
    :Do No:

But if it would work... I'd write you a check for 1 million right now! That should add up some quick interest, and we can split it.
I'll gladly pay my $5 overdraft fee, for a months worth of interest on a million bucks.
    :gt:

I don't think it works that way.
