Boy, these cars are coming out of the woodwork! The seller is probably hoping to get some of the leftover bidders from the $25K 73 GS. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...010QQitemZ200209880711QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
I was just going to post a link to this auction, and I was going to call it........"Another ugly 73 thread" Not that I feel the 73's are ugly, it just seem's that every 73 post on this BB end's up getting uglyo No: I personally would love to have another 73. My Dad is kicking one around right now. If it was my money, the car would already have been purchased and probably here in Michigan. Dad just doesn't make decision's as quickly as I do.
Uh,i happen to like it.Maybe i'am strange.I'am putting the popcorn on now as it's going to be a long ride!
I sent the seller a message to take pics of the trans tag and the vin along with the block code and vin. He stated he THINKS he has the original block but it's not the one in the car. Nothing on the original carb and distributer yet. He claims he will do the pics and post them on his auction
It's hard to believe that you can own a car for over 30 years and think you may have the original block! Should have checked before the auction and mentioned it in the ad??? Either way, nice car for that era.
If he uses the same tactics as the other seller, the sky is the limit, but it probably won't hit reserve.
Are the colonades ever going to gain respect? Probably right after I give mine away to someone.:ball: We sure get a lot of interest on the board, they really do grow on you after you have owned one for a while. I have a question for the 73 & 74 experts. My 74 originally had a white top, is there anyway to verify the color of pinstriping that would have came from the factory? I have been working on bringing mine back to stock, I am going to change the top back to white, I am wondering about changing the pinstriping back to white also? I have a old 74 Brochure, but the car in that photo is silver no help there Any thoughts?
These cars are still coming out of the woodwork? This makes twenty four '73 Stage 1 Centurys still in existence that I am aware of (twelve 4-speeds). Only 704 more to go. Pat, is your count close to mine? John. My '73 came with a white top and a white pin stripe, the exterior is Burgundy with silver gran sport decals. I can't say what they did in '74 though.
Did the 73's come with an HEI distributor? I thought they started using them in the 74 model year. I like the green color on the exterior, but would have chosen black for the interior. Nice ride though. Later, Randy
This car has been stuck at 5,100 for four days now.No behind the seens bidding going on so i think we'll see what John Q. Public thinks a 73 is worth.
Randy, Only the stage 1 GS's came with the HEI starting in 1974, I believe all 1973's had points. But I know my statement about the 1974's are true. for more information see the order sheet on my photobucket site (Sloan documents) http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w9/ylark/1974 GS/
I got a bid of 10K on mine a few weeks ago, so I know what mine is worth. Too bad i paid more than that for it, I kind of got suckered but at least the car is prtty much mint. and not an ugly colorp
The seller also has an extra "XS" block. I am attempting to get the VIN stamp from the block to see if it belongs to another members car.ray:
VIN on extra block is 43H122605. As far as I know that car no longer exists, but it was worth a check.
Eric can you Pm me? I have been having trouble with Sloan and have not bothered for a year since. ( Talked to Pat and Roberta but, like I said it has been awhile for a follow up) Sounds like you can help! P.S.You have done a wonderful job THANKS! :bglasses: :bglasses: :3gears: :3gears:
