Hi everyone. I am trying to freshen up a 70 GS 455 convertible, and am in need of several parts. Can anyone recommend good sources for things like correct date coded GM heater and radiator hoses? Also plug wires, p/steering and fan belts?
Also, are there any good reference books that give details concerning the engine compartment? I need to know the correct gloss for several black components.
    Thanks for your help.

www.yearone.com for the date coded plug wires.

To my belief the date coded hoses and belts are not avaiable unless you stamp them. ( Perhaps a few old NOS ones are around)

www.atlantabuick.com for paint codes but Ken Lisk on this Board has a more comprehensive list posted.

Thanks Flynbuick, but YearOne only came close on the wires. According to the info. in the catalog, the wires they list are not correct for the 4/70 build date.
I had already checked the AtlantaBuick site, but only found paint codes, not specifics on what degree (60, 30, etc.) black the factory used on things like inner fender aprons, core support, firewall and so on.
I guess what I realy need is a good restoration guide for the Buick A-body.

Can anyone direct me to the information compiled by Ken Lisk?

I bought some from YO for a 4/70 build date myself. Parts are going to have a date code that predates the build date month for the car. So buy the wires whose date next precedes April 1970.

For example if you look at your intake and exhaust manifolds the date will likely be earlier than April. Our's are March.

Did you look at this AB paint code guide?

Two of the judges for these cars at National events are on this Board --Duane Heckman and Brad Conley.

As for paint from listening to to former plant workers at Flint that painted GSX cars I am not sure they can tell you the formula for the mix of flatener on things like GSX stripes. I think they did it by eye. People like Mark Reeves and Jim Weise here can can you what they believe replicates the color shades.
