Correct engine is missing and from the way he words it I presume the distrib. and the carb. I do not know about the trans. The body appears legit.
So speaking realisticly, once this guy puts a non #'s motor, tranny etc... How much would it bring compared to one that has #'s matching everything? Assuming they both would be restored properly.
Mark had a medal winning non stage non numbers matching great GSX at BJ last year which brought only 49K. You cannot buy the car and restore it and not have more than that in it. A numbers matching stage 1 70 X car with the paperwork would fetch 6 figures.
Would there be a big price difference, or no difference at all between a #'s matching 70, 71, and 72 GSX?
There might be differing opinions but the value in decending order is 70, 71 and 72. I have not seen any fully restored 71 and 72 GSX s sell so I cannot say how much the difference might be.
I agree with you about public sales like ebay. I base that statement on private, not public, sales and offers. The best cars usually sell at private sales where thy bring the most money. When I say best I mean in terms of restorations back to original. Those are not the best drivers, street strip, or strip cars. Just for show cars seem to bring by far the most money.
Jim is correct. The majority of GSX sales are private. I know of a recent sale that was 6 figures. But Im sworn to secrecy on the players and the particular car
Yeah..OK. Ive heard of "private" sales over 100k also..usually from someone with 2 or 3 they are restoring now and who obviously has an agenda. :Brow: Its my opinion that there has not yet been a 6 digit GSX sold yet. If there has been than prove it.
I know of a numbers matching GSX Stage 1 auto that sold for 55 k then 75 k. QQ car . Private Sale . Board Member. I will not disclose the name so don't ask. John.
Ive heard a bunch of those storys..but whats the big secret??Whos the buyer and seller? o No: Most I have seen latly trade in 25-45k.All the crazy priced cars at major auctions and listing are still for sale and went home with the seller. Dont get me wrong Im not bashing the Buicks I own 4 . But it seems every time I hear of a 100k sale its a secret and cant be documented with a vin and discussion with buyer or seller. So if you have sold or brought a 100k GSX or GS for that matter than please call me 718-774-7846 .A frend is writing a book and would love to add your car to the pages.
Well, interesting the ones talking up these super high priced 100K+ sales are the one that allready own one. I gotta agree with GSXER. Why is it such a secret? Whats the purpose of hiding these "in the backroom sales" that go on? I CAN believe 50-70K for a top notch GSX. My .03 cents.
The main reason the price is kept secret is that these cars are for the most part being purchased by investors who hope to turn a profit. They do not want the price they pay published as it sets the line on the next sale. I have just completed a deal on 2 of my most desirable cars and the deal is based on complete confidentiality of sales price and buyer. For all I know the buyer is trying to avoid paying taxes -- but his money is good -- so why should I break an agreement we both entered in trust. I have purchased cars that I would not tell the price because I didn't want people to know how stupid I was at paying such a ridiculous price.
I can tell you for a fact that I have owned my X for less than 3 months. In that time, I have been offered more than the range you posted above. Its a numbers matching car thats probably decribed as anumber 2.5 car. I've been told of cars recently selling for 150K. Better than new restored cars. Can't say I was there to witness the transaction. But compare that to 71 Hemi-cudas selling for as high as 1 million $$$$, and 70 Cudas bringing as much as 500K, the ones we see on Barret going for over 300k, the GSX Stage 1 cars, are still a bargain. The push up in Stage 1 X cars in the last 6 months is similiar to the Hemi-E bodys 2-3 years ago. Just my 2 cents. Patrick
Where are these numbers match, paperwork, no rust Gsx cars at? 40-70k WHERE? I am one of the guys who has paid 100 to 200 for 70 buicks. I must be paying way to much! I was at the nationals this year and attemted to buy several cars, in EVERY case I was quoted a price they would like to get, I would agree and then the price would go up 2-3 hundred percent. I was successful in purchasing one that felt his car was worth between 20 and 30 at 50. Not a Gsx. I here it all the time from buick guys ( I WOULD SELL IF I COULD GET 50K UNLESS YOU WANT IT THEN IT IS NOT FOR SALE, OR YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY 150K) The mopar world is real simple ( I WANT 150K, PAY ME) buick guy do not tell anyone, mopar guy tell everyone. No matter how hard some of the buick guys try to tell you buicks are not worth much try buying a good one from one of these guys!
