Last year I took the adjustable rear shocks off my 1967 Chevelle "SS396" 4 speed car and put a pair of "stock replacements" on to "loosen up" the rear end. Mistake or no?? The adjustables were 70/30, 50/50, 30/70. :Dou:

I think it's a matter of what works for you and your car. On automatic cars, you can preload the suspension a little by bringing it up on the convertor, but on a stick car, you can't. I notice a lot of rear suspension movement on the 4 link GM coil automatic cars, but my 4 speed car wheel hoppped all over the place with soft springs and stock shocks. I added air bags to raise the car back up to stock height, and use no hop bars. El cheapo KYB gas shocks work fine on that.
